Sprinting and hurdling aren't really comparable...speed is essential for both but bringing sprint technique to a hurdle race is a recipe for disaster (guilty
).
And honestly, if Bolt did that many events (and the relays), he'd definitely falter down the stretch, since track is such a high impact sport; waaay too much pressure on the body to compete at a high level in that many events. Swimming is one of the most low impact sports around, and thus makes it easier for competitors to compete in more events without putting excessive stress on their bodies.
King Phelps is EASILY in the conversation for GOAT Olympian, but I can't hand that title over to him based on medal count alone.
