WOW! It's reported that
my state was the closest in the entire country! Less than a percent separated the candidates! Which is funny considering every state northeast of us was Democrat and every state southwest went Republican. Unfortunately, though, my state went Republican.
Oh well, at least he won! I will never forget last night watching CBS news. They had just put up a thing coming back from commercials. "Barack Obama is the projected winner of the president elect. We join so-n-so at so-n-so where the news about Obama being the po----"
All of a sudden, then bottom of the screen which showed up-to-date electoral votes showed Obama jump from 200 something to 283! It's like the whole Pacific seaboard sent in the results at the same time. This election goes down in history for three things...
a) The first ever African-American president
b) One of the closest elections in the history of elections
c) flipping 9 states from Republican to Democrat and NONE flipping to Republican!
And for anyone who wants to know, here is how it officially ended up. North Carolina is still "undecided" on the Internet, but according to their local news, it went to Obama. The same thing happened in Missouri, this morning they announced McCain got it, but it wasn't on the Internet for almost 5 hours.
*States with white dots flipped parties.
