The Hawaii Legislature will remain controlled by Democrats after a primary election where many Democratic incumbents ran unopposed.

There were 16 uncontested races in the elections for the state Senate and House, and all but one of the unopposed candidates were Democrats. Eight races featured only Democrats.

In the Senate, lone Republican Sam Slom ran unopposed in his primary. He'll face Democrat Stanley Chang, a former Honolulu City Council member, in the November general election. If Chang wins, the state Senate will have only Democrats.

There are currently only seven Republicans in the 51-seat state House.

Democratic Senate President Ronald Kouchi won his primary, and he heads to the general election unopposed. House Speaker Joe Souki won his primary will face a Republican challenger in the fall.

Trump will go for insults and empty slogans.

Hillary has proven time and time again she stays on message. I can see her saying something like "Oh Donald!!! Another insult??? Is that how you'll defeat ISIS and go toe-to-toe with Putin. Blah, blah, blah. The American people want to hear about ABC". So while Trump is trying to drag her down, her strategy is to try to bring him in to policy. It should be fun to watch. Remember Donald has never debated one person before. Hillary has been practicing all types of candidates for years now.

Still should be excited because she's currently ahead there in the polls, and she's spending a six figure amount there and in Arizona on field operations and voter registration efforts.

If the polling still has here ahead after the first debate, you'll be seeing a lot of Obama, Bill, and Tim Kaine for sure in October.

It's very ironic how Hillary is winning states that hasn't been won by Democrats since the other Clinton ran! I wonder how Bernie would be doing at this rate. He'll either be so much more liked than Trump that it's a Reagan blowout or he'll be keeping the states red because of his "socialist" message.

I think Hillary's centrist and status quo ways are the reason we're even having this discussion. Moderates stay winning.

Hillary is going to beat Trump so badly that she'll get an overwhelming amount of Independents and even a big chunk of Republicans. She's going to win by double digits and a 400 electoral college isn't out of the question.

I really can't wait for the debates. I know Hill is strong at them and she's always prepared with that one surprise zinger that comes out of no where. I do hope you're right about their impact and that people dont get too distracted by Trump's antics.

Hillary has consolidated her base. Trump has yet to do so, and is making no efforts to do so.

It's the Independents that they will court, and I don't see how he'll get them if he doesn't change up like yesterday. The debates will secure she gets majority of that 32%. For the 20% of Republicans not yet on board for Trump I hope she gets about 5-10% and the other 10-15% go for Gary Johnson or that Mormon that just entered the race. We just need that Romney and Bush endorsement.
