Sexy Janet is back! Ugh, sometimes during voting I would question if I really thought this was deserving of my 11 but just playing it would reassure me. It's so smooth and it talks about waiting for the night you consummate coming, the sequel song to Let's Wait Awhile if you will. I think this works so well, the misty, alluring production drawing you in as Janet just purrs out the lyrics. And bitch let's not even get into those horns at the end, my god this is everything mama. An absolute journey of a song and the perfect way to end this album, and to open the
next reinvention of Janet if you will. Ventitonic can burn.
You all seemed agreed with me, with
Ivory. thinking it's "literally the perfect transition track between RN1814 and janet." and
Auburn calling it "the perfect continuation of Let's Wait Awhile. Abstinence queen no more!"
Aerosol finds it to be "her most subtle baby-making song after Funny How Time Flies" and says that "Herb Alpert killed it on the sax." Indeed he did, a little round of applause for him. He's made quite a few great tracks with Jan.
Vilppu loves "how it progresses as the song goes on, the melody is really beautiful. Also, there's something simply very emotional about it, Janet proves she can emote quite well, poor haters." Yes, the lush sounding production and the sax is all a 10 but Janet is the 11. Amazing.
ECNEICSNOC talks about it in the grand scheme of her career, "One thing I love about Janet's discography is that it has a narrative. This is obviously the sequel to "Let's Wait Awhile" and the precursor to everything she did musically for like 20 years. The sax solo symbolizing her doing it for the first time is genius." Genius is just one of many words to describe this.
