After constantly being the low score in Ace's Primadonnas rate I realized it's fun being the conatus/KYC of rates. While still serving taste of course!
This minimalist ballad finds Courtney confronting those most adult of themes: settling and mortality. A discouraging expedition to the outer Melbourne suburb of Preston in search of affordable housing evolves into a meditation on the life that the previous owner left behind after her passing. But underneath the melancholy acoustic guitar and bleak descriptions, it also strikes a note of hope that anywhere could be the place to refresh and “start rebuilding.” The simple companion video matches Courtney's achingly lovely vocals with a triptych tour of the lifeless neighborhood.
Best bit: “We don't have to be around all these coffee shops/Now we've got that percolator, never made a latte greater/I’m saving twenty three dollars a week”
