It makes complete sense tbh. If he knew that there was for sure another season, he wouldn't have had to wrap things up and give every character an ending. He wrapped it up as easily as he could because he didn't have the luxury of leaving cliffhangers and open ended plot lines to be answered next season.

(Although, who knows, this could get another season).

There are definitely a lot of plot holes, but you can't expect everything to be realistic with this show. Chanel #2's death scene alone.
