As the others said, Go itself is free - albeit with in-app purchases for more Pokeballs - but the Go Plus bracelet is $34.99. Basically, it lights up when a Pokemon is available and lets you try and catch it without stopping to look at your phone.
I do think it's a bit higher priced than I would have expected. I expected like $10-15 less than the $35 price tag. It's optional, but at the same time it's kinda required for what they're going for.
