It was truly a trainwreck in slow-motion and there was nothing stopping it. I liked the final pairing the best, but that scene in the final episode at the airport was hysterical.

Try FMA 2003 if you haven't seen it. It goes through the beginning at a much slower pace and diverges from Brotherhood in the middle. It's different, but super interesting. You might also like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Keep in mind the show is absolutely loony, but it's such a great watch.
If you're looking for something that's not action, try Cardcaptor Sakura or Nana, both are some of the best out there.
