For all the people saying that it wasn't that original, I get it. I was literally thinking about that when I was watching it for the first time. But were y'all expecting a Prisoner of Azkaban type franchise reinvention?

There was no way in hell Disney and Lucasfilm were going to risk out of the box ideas or even an ounce of edginess. They played it totally safe and pandered the fans (which lbr could have gone both ways. Watchmen, for example, was a mess) but it completely worked and got people excited for quality Star Wars. I know it's once again fashionable to trash the prequels en masse, but the last person who tried to be original with Star Wars was George Lucas with Phantom Menace and we all know how that turned out.

So yeah, deep down I would have liked something that felt newer, but it was still completely incredible and the new characters are amazing

I don't understand how this movie is getting praised by you all. It's visually epic, but the plot was made for 10-year-olds. This was Star Wars getting the Avengers treatment.

My comments:


-How in the world did Rey learn operating all those space ships? From scavenger to suddenly flying the Millennium Falcon better than Han Solo himself? LOL
-And Finn. He had years of training as a soldier but appeared to be less adept at fighting than Rey. Why? How did he learn to fight with a light saber and actually wound Kylo Ren, who had years of training under Luke Skywalker?
-How did Han Solo and Finn convince a general to lower the shield of AN ENTIRE PLANET in under a few minutes, but took hours/maybe days of torture for Poe (including use of the force) to divulge the location of the missing map/droid?
-How did Rey defeat Kylo Ren? She was almost losing until Kylo uttered an invitation to teach her how to use the force, and suddenly she was able to turn things around and defeat a powerful man with barely any experience at using the light saber or the force.
-who else found the appearance of that fault line between Kylo and Rey laughable? How did it manage to split exactly between them?
-Kylo felt Han Solo when he landed on the planet, but did not feel him when he was literally on the other side of that bridge. LOL
-And R2D2 suddenly waking up at the most convenient time. Why?
