The connection in the lyric of Skyfall and the James Bond movie
According to poster battleshipgreygt in the James Bond forum MI6
Quote:
First of all it refers to James Bond's ancestral lodge/castle. Its name is 'Skyfall', previously owned. Moreover, and I am surprised no one has mentioned it yet, but there's a big reference to Ian Fleming's novel 'You Only Live Twice', never been used before in a Bond film: We see the grave of Bond's parents Andrew Bond, of Glencoe, where Skyfall Lodge is located, and Monique Delacroix Bond, of the Swiss canton Vaud. Bond's parents died at age 11, leaving him an orphan, shortly mentioned by Vesper in 'Casino Royale'
Secondly, 'Skyfall' refers to a specific name for a big villainous revenge operation initiated by villain Raoul Silva, ex-MI6-agent. He knows about Bond's past and first wants to create havoc on MI6, committing a terrorist attack on Vauxhall Cross, killing members of parliament and several MI6-employees. But that's not it. His revenge goes beyond that. Silva is a computer wizkid too. With his IT knowledge he wants to bring down all defense satellites. Hence the big computer racks/servers on Silva's deserted island. So very cynically Silva wants to 'let the sky fall'; let the secret intelligence community crumble. So he's a villainous version of Julian Assange.
