Five reasons to see Lady Gaga at Rogers Arena in Vancouver
1. The pop superstar is kicking off the North American leg of her Born This Way Ball Tour with two concerts at Rogers Arena in Vancouver this weekend, following a string of sold-out shows all over Europe, Australia and Asia.
2. Described as an “electro-metal pop-opera,” the concert is an exaggerated version of her previous Monster Ball Tour separated into five acts and featuring Gaga riding a mechanical horse, appearing as a motorcycle hybrid (as on her Born This Way album cover), wearing an origami outfit and ending up in her signature meat dress for fan favourite Poker Face.
3. The Born This Way Ball Tour grossed over $160 million in 2012, making it the 27th highest grossing tour in history so far. (The Monster Ball Tour ranks at No. 15 with $235 million.)
4. Gaga may be making money hand over fist but she has also been giving back quite a bit through a number of charitable organizations and advocating for LGBT rights. The Born This Way Ball Tour has featured the “Born Brave Bus,” a mobile youth drop-in centre that acts as an initiative against bullying.
5. Lady Gaga has 33 million followers on Twitter, the near-equivalent of the entire population of Canada. Has anyone coined the term “Gagada” yet?
