Bearing little resemblance to its titular predecessor—a tribute to a dead friend from her more experimental 2010 album Halfaxa—this bouncy electronic ditty sneers at a clueless inferior who has insulted Grimes by comparing them. It may be the unnamed diss track aimed at male producers that she mentioned in interviews, an expression of frustration that she can’t get the respect she deserves for writing, composing and engineering all of her own music.
Best bit: “I know most likely/How I used to be a frail and silly thought in your mind”

I really would have loved to see it in the top ten. It's my favorite on To Pimp a Butterfly, "These Walls" perhaps excepted.
Buzzing synths and booming drums drive this power-pop plea, in which Carly sounds at times near to tears as she hopelessly pursues another chance with an ex that she knows will never love her the way she wants him to. Released last fall as the third single from Emotion, with a dive-bar-fairy-tale music video, it impressively charted nowhere.
Best bit: the second “I’ll make time for youuuu (time for you-ooh)” in the outro, complete with that little hitch in her voice
