3. You are the mess sis people have been laughing at your instagram pics on kik
Release Date: December 23, 2013
Genre: EDM, dance
Length: 79:47 (standard); 94:02 (deluxe)
Recorded: 2012-2013; Stockholm, Sweden; Bridgeport, SimNation
Label: Written Without Warrant
Paige Elliot's sophomore album released, only two months after her debut, due to what she described as a "struggle for control" with her label over which album to release. The second album, which reveals itself to be much more personal and in-depth than the club-ready 'Celebration', is much darker, artistically, while having a mostly EDM-filled sound. Juxtaposed angelic angels and demonic horns with red eyes, long white nails and nudity fill the album and its photos, displaying the meaning behind the title, 'Heaven/Hell', which Elliot revealed to reflect on the highs and lows of her life.
The album itself features a largely EDM production, featuring producers such as Swedish House Mafia, Avicii and Zedd, while also having electro and urban influences, such as the trap "Fire" produced by Baauer ("Harlem Shake") and Bangladesh to the electroshock "Bite Me" produced by Lazy Rich; both songs are considered disses towards Elliot's ex-husband David, who lost a court case against her on the accusations of abuse, emotional trauma and physical assault. Despite this production, the album reveals personal lyrics, and each song is considered either "Heaven" or "Hell", and where each song lands can only be determined by the lyrics.
The album's lead single, "Ecstasy", a "heaven" song produced by Swedish House Mafia ("Don't You Worry Child"), displays Elliot in a trippy, joyful state, drugged up and in absolute bliss. A similar song, "I Care", written about a man sympathetic and caring towards his current girlfriend, another "heaven" song, features writing credits from Elliot's current boyfriend, actor Matthew Hamming. On a darker side, the pseudo-dubstep ballad "Wrong Paradise" features a slow, bass-heavy production with stomping drums, a "Hell" song about finding love and joy in a place where you shouldn't. The standard album closes on the title track "Heaven/Hell", which, along with the title "Made of Stone", is considered a "neutral" track that shows traits of both Heaven and Hell, reflects on the entire album, with an ethereal and dark production courtesy of William Orbit, discussing topics from Paige's first kiss to her suicide attempts and age 13 to her marriage to the nights her husband abused her. It ends the standard album on a perfect note, haunting listeners and keeping the entire album's concept in their heads.

"Escape the King"
Opening the album with a "heaven" song, "Escape the King" describes someone escaping from a dominant, almost abusive lover, over a heavy, rumbling beat that fizzes, twists, dies and comes back constantly, stuttering due to David Guetta and roaring due to Michael Woods. It was a no-brainer that the song was about Paige Elliot's ex-husband, David Elliot, like several other songs on the album.
"I Care"
Another "heaven" song, "I Care" tells a story of a lonely girl meeting the man of her dreams, and her telling him all her troubles, fearing he'll reject her, only to find out he cares and understands. Avicii provides guitar-driven verses with a light, EDM chorus, similar to his song "Wake Me Up!"
"Ecstasy"
Yet another "heaven" song, "Ecstasy" describes life in bliss as a total high over a typical Swedish House Mafia beat, light and easy, yet still danceable, similar to their popular single "Don't You Worry Child".
"Rich Bitch"
The first "Hell" song on the album, "Rich Bitch" recalls Paige's song "Shame", describing people insulting her and her only hearing rumors about herself throughout the town. Real headlines from magazines about her divorce with David are read off in the beginning, and the entire song is bass-heavy with a moombahton-esque drum beat with a high-pitched melody in the chorus.
"Bite Me"
Another song about David, "Bite Me" is a "heaven" song, and a straight-up diss towards him from Paige, telling him to bite her, attack her or hit her again, almost a teasing dare, over an electro beat that shocks ans screams.
"Fire"
An urban standout on the EDM album, "Fire" is another "heaven" song and yet another tell-off towards David. Paige describes their troubles, claiming she's done with him and has finally taken care of her life and all her troubles. The beat is heavy, a typical trap song, with the occasional dancehall break between the choruses and verses.
"Spring Break (Part II)"
Picking up right where the original left off, it's another "heaven" song with a similar beat to the original song, with a heavier bass and more breakdowns. It describes young adults going insane and partying on spring break over a dubstep and drum & bass beat. However, instead of Justin Bieber, the continuation features Rob Swire, who also helped produce the song as a member of Knife Party.
"Hungover"
A typical Afrojack song, "Hungover" is a "Hell" song that describes coming down from a high, referencing "Spring Break". However, the chorus has dramatic vocals before a slurred, spoken hook like, "Ugh, man, I think I'm a big hungover..." before a high-pitched Afrojack beat.
"Wrong Paradise"
Another "Hell" song and the part where the album takes a negative turn, "Wrong Paradise" is a pseudo-dubstep song, with the occasional wub yet with stomping drums and light sounds, recalling Selena Gomez's "Stars Dance". The song describes finding happiness and pleasure in a place you shouldn't.
"Heartless"
The final tell-off towards David Elliot, "Heartless" is another "Hell" song with a bouncing beat and stomping, repetitive drums and the occasional treble sizzle, patronizing David and speaking down towards him for being a "Heartless, immature child".
"Not in Love"
Another "Hell" song, "Not in Love" features a majorly dubstep beat, with one small bar of light, electro synths, but mostly consisting of heavy, bassy instruments with stomping drums as Paige sings in a heavenly voice about realizing she's not in love with someone anymore.
"Made of Stone"
The first song on the album that isn't strictly "Heaven" or "Hell", "Made of Stone" describes Paige being jaded by her life experiences, and that she can no longer be hurt by any words or acts by anyone else over a danceable, heavy beat courtesy of Sandy Vee and NERVO.
"Gunshot"
Another "Hell" song, "Gunshot" features an almost atonal instrumental, mostly consiting of guitar twangs, clicks, knocks, bangs and almost-constant gunshots and clicks as Paige describes being shot down by a lover, sampling the classic song "Bang Bang" by Cher, also covered by Nancy Sinatra.
"Heaven/Hell"
The last neutral song on the album, and the longest song on it, as well, "Heaven/Hell" reflects on everything told in the album over a watery, etheral beat that constantly changes to fit each story. There are samples of yells, voices, conversations and countless other songs, with random changes and twists as the song tells Paige's entire life stories in constant changing melodies and instrumentals.
"Sick"
Another total dubstep song, "Sick" is a "Hell" song featuring vocals from Nero singer Alana as she and Paige describe being sick of love and life.
"Christof"
A "heaven" song, "Christof" doesn't ever say its name, and rather describes Paige being infatuated and in love with someone over a rolling, happy-go-lucky beat that's impossible not to be happy to.
"Witchcraft"
The final "Hell" song on the album, "Witchcraft" describes Paige comparing herself to a witch casting a spell on her lovers over a low, heavy, wobbling bassline, enchanting the listener like a witch's spell on its own.
"Marilyn Monroe"
A great closer to the album, "Marilyn Monroe" is a "heaven" song with a heavy, electroshock Zedd beat as Paige sings about being remembered as an icon, and ends the entire album on the note of a blissful suicide.
Do you want me to link you to the CAL2 3 word document pages long article that gave details about everything that happened at the Britney Spears album launch concert?
Carlos, he's right. I said so myself earlier; the remix's sales count for the original song, even though it charts differently. That's kind of how remixes work this season.
