This was on the front page of Yahoo, I know it's not strictly Gaga related, but I thought I'd post it. Article on Alexander McQueen.

17 March 1969 –11 February 2010 (aged 40)
The fashion world was rocked by the untimely death of Alexander McQueen, one of Britain’s most influential designers, who tragically took his own life at his home in Mayfair, London. McQueen was found hanged nine days after his mother died from cancer. He had been diagnosed with mixed anxiety and depressive disorder prior to his suicide, and is reported to have left a note saying: "Look after my dogs, sorry, I love you, Lee."
The son of a Lewisham taxi driver, the fashion icon came from humble beginnings, growing up on a council estate in Stratford. He blew away stylists with his graduate clothing collection, having completed a Masters in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins in 1994, and subsequently launched his fashion career.
The openly gay designer’s most notable achievements include becoming one of the youngest ever to win the ‘British Designer of the Year’ award; between 1996 and 2003, he won this title four times. He is also renowned for inventing ‘bumsters’ - low rise jeans which have been said to typify Alexander McQueen’s style.
By 2007, the Alexander McQueen brand was established in London, New York, Los Angeles, Milan and Las Vegas. Beloved by countless celebrities, stars like Lady Gaga and Sarah Jessica Parker are known to have frequently sported outfits from McQueen to high profile events.
Following McQueen's death, Selfridges department store in London sparked controversy when they unveiled a shop window display showing one of his designs being hanged from the gallows.
London Fashion Week 2010 cleared a space on the official fashion show schedule to hold a memorial service for McQueen.
