MAPS: Playing it safeagain, the verses on Maps are nothing special, but the chorus is again a pop gold. The drums at 0.54 are epic, altho nothing unheard and innovative. They could've work out the verses better, the guitar melody is good, but the beat is annoying.
As a lead single, it underperformed for my expectations. In comparison with Payphone, it's on the same level on quality and I'm sure if Payphone didn't have the Voice promo, it would be no hit.
ANIMALS: It's the synonym for generic. What makes it standout a little bit is the wild lyrics and Adam's annoying voice. This is no competition for One More Night, which was one of the freshest things last year and deserved its whole success. If this becomes a hit, it would be a Maps sized one, at its best.
IT WAS ALWAYS YOU: Aaaaahhh. You. You. Always You. They took an interesting route with this one. It could fit IWBSBL so good. Love the disco vibe the chorus gives. It's great.
UNKISS ME: K, that was cool, let's get boring again. This is the worst from their #5-on-the-tracklist-ballad. It reminds me of a lot of artists and songs and it's not original at all.
SUGAR: Okay Adam Maroon 5, like Shellback and Benny Blanco weren't enough, you had to add Dr. Luke to your discography too!? At least pick something original! Can't decide if this reminds me more of LFN or Birthday! Pissed off! That falsetto in the chorus tho!
LEAVING CALIFORNIA: It's better than Unkiss Me, of course. It has the fun. and Nate vibe.
Okay, okay, it's good track.
**** YEAH ADAM SLAY!
-my timeline of liking this song
IN YOUR POCKET: OMG, come thru Adam, yeaaahh. The best song on V? Hell yeah. I love the dark vibe and the catchiness. The production is so simple, yet great and addictive. I also like to applaud Adam's voice too. It sounds so sweet and innocent, but in fact, it's like he wants to kill you.
NEW LOVE: It's a cute song. Really. So sweet and innocent love song.
COMING BACK FOR YOU: HELL YEAH!
You can say this and IWAY have the same producers. Love this sound from them and it's also not too much pop. The verses in this one are better than the chorus, which is unexpected. But the song as a whole is so awesome and euphoric. The last 1.15 are GOLD.
FEELINGS: This will so be the Lucky Strike of this album. I love the whole vibe of the song and the story the lyrics are telling. Also love this sound from them. MLJ, Doin Dirt, Lucky Strike, this...
MY HEART IS OPEN: [meltdown]Okay, can you tell me what exactly are they trying to copy pull? Say Something or Stay?
Are you telling me they created a piano ballad, instead of punk or whatever was the sound of No Doubt's last album!?!? [/meltdown]
It's a great album track. It's a little weird to be a single. Especially the chorus, plus it's not so catchy. But The Voice performance is inevitable.
Also I'd like to praise Gwen's vocals. Queen.
SHOOT LOVE: Hell yeah, serve me that drum'n'bass, UK slayage! Let me overreact a little bit, it's masterpiece.
SEX AND CANDY: Their covers always slay.
LOST STARS: Awesome.
