I wrote a new song last night inspired by The Song of Achilles (I've been obsessed with Achilles + Patroclus for years), and I really love it. Might share it in a blog later
Still trying to decide if it needs some more editing.
Well, I'm new to this thread - but I love writing songs, I write them all the time. So I'll just put my little debut here, it's a little ballad about falling in love with a guy who probably doesn't like me back. Just something I'm going through right now.
It's called

The smile on my face used to be genuine
I am miserable
I don't expect you to have seen that
But I find it hard to think you won’t understand

I can feel my heart bleed out
There’s so much left to say now
I’ve got to find the courage somehow

So watch me as my heart bleeds out
I’m burning the midnight oil
Searching for a way to tell you what I see now
I knew your heart wasn’t mine
But still I felt like there was some kind of connection
Stupid me, to ever think that you would fall for another
I’ve heard the lilt in your voice whenever you’re speaking about her
But let me get my words out
I can feel my heart bleed out
There’s so much left to say now
I’ve got to find the courage somehow
I hope you see just how much I care

Find another way to deal with the open cut

I see it all so clearly right now
Better you never know than I lose you forever
And my love remains another chip on my shoulder

So I've been working on this song for a bit. I guess my inspiration for it was having so many friends in relationships that can't seem to get out of them. They'll break up, but go running back to them hoping things will change when nothing ever happens. But yet they're still so excited and smitten by the highs the relationship they ignore all the drops in it and everything that goes wrong. It's almost like they're stuck in this never ending cycle..
I always wanted to write a song and relate it to a rollercoaster, weird I know, but since Carrie's "Carnival Ride" I was inspired by the album title to incorporate a song from it. I'm proud of it to be honest and it's one of the longer songs I took to write.

I love this! Roller Coaster themed songs are my favorite since the first "song" (if you can call it that) I ever wrote was around the age of 5/6 and it was called Roller Coaster Road.

I've always wanted to write one and I'm so glad I did, I think this is one of the strongest songs I ever wrote.
I've been song writing for 6 years now, only been taking it seriously within the past 2 years. I've written about 45+ songs in total, frequently writing daily. When I write my songs, I usually sit down on the keyboard and play around with chords and just make up lyrics on the spot, than write them down then re-write and touch up. My genre is I guess you can say Indie/pop, but my style changes. Two songs below are ones I've recently/or just really enjoy at the moment.

Aw I like it
I need to try get back into writing... But I have no idea what to write.
Still very much in it's rough format, but I wrote this over the past two days. It's different from my usual writing style but I'm excited to see where this goes.
