Why would National or Labour give up PM for him? Doing that would be worse than losing the election
I hope whichever side wins doesn't need him. That's my main concern next year. It'll be interesting to see where the Conservative Party vote goes in 2017, as that 4% wasted vote ultimately made National able to govern alone (well with their two puppets in Dunne and Seymour). If it goes home to the Nats then they'll be okay but if it deserts them or goes to Winson then they're in trouble.
There also seems to be a bit of growing discontentment with MMP among some people right now. Even though we just had a damn referendum on it a few cycles ago

Complaints seem to be about how unelected people can get in on the list... but that's why we switched to MMP in the first place so parties like the Greens with broad, nationwide support (but not concentrated enough to win an electorate) could be represented in proportion to how many votes they got nationwide. I guess a solution may be to prevent candidates from double dipping and either stand in an electorate or be on the list... but then that doesn't really make standing in an electorate an attractive option and people will still moan about people being allowed in despite not winning an electorate.
