I was looking into the "Pitchfork stans for your fave?" thread and looked for Britney in their site, though I remember they had made good comments on Blackout, I found they never properly reviewed any album by her, but I did find a pretty nice article on Blackout, which among other things, read:

Blackout reminds me how instantly recognisable Britney's vocals are, treated or untreated: Her thin Southern huskiness is one of the defining sounds of 00s pop. She's credited on Blackout as Executive Producer, which could mean anything, but it's hard to listen to the record and not credit her with a degree of agency. Eleven successive tracks of hard, defiant, envelope-pushing dance-pop may be exactly what I wanted from a Britney comeback. And Britney's off-disc life is both distraction from and enabler for this extraordinary album.
