Its because Rihanna songs are generally crossover format hits, this only has Pop radio right now... they need to send it to HAC, both Needed Me and TOWYCF are gonna jog the other formats but won't touch HAC.
Also, it'd be an excellent warmup to Love On The Brain which will slay HAC.
TIWYCF will do well on HAC, maybe better than Kiss It Better tbh.
Honestly she should have released this as the first single and let "Work" be the summer single. The album was given away for free anyways so it's not like "Work" helped sell the album. It's a shame that this flopped. It really is a beautiful song.
They released it during her touring time so she can't promote it anywhere and dropped the video too early. Not to mention the video is really boring and lacks replay value.
And I don't get why it was released if the Calvin collabo was already in plans. "Needed Me" could've been the sole release until the Calvin song & then KIB would get released later.
It's especially sad because KIB is one of the very few hit-worthy songs left on Anti. LOTB is actually the last one I think.
and I know a song is bound to flop when you see request links flooding pages after pages.
Don't even understand why fans try to request. I appreciate the effort but it NEVER works.
RIP Kiss It Better. You still remain one of her best records ever.
