Round Thirteen: The Double Song
The Inspirational Song / The Rock Song

Inspirational: a divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul.
Rock (via UrbanDictionary): usually guitar driven with drums and bass providing the back-beat, and the singer providing the vocals, though instrumentals are quite common as well.
The contestants had to send in two songs this round: one being an empowering and uplifting song (could be based on melody, lyrics, etc), and the other being a guitar-driven and lyric-conscious song.

Firework
Katy's "Firework" is, by far, her most inspirational anthem. She sings about feeling down, and managing to empower oneself by becoming a 'Firework'. The video is perfect for this round too, as the video is literally the most inspiring thing she's done.
One of the Boys
A risky choice, but still. OOTB is Katy's rockiest song yet. It's bubbly, edgy, and feisty all at the same time. She sounds confident. exclaiming she doesn't want to be 'one of the guys' and wants to be loved. The chorus is adrenaline packed, with a high energy guitar driven instrumental.

I chose “Sweeter Than Fiction” for the theme Inspirational. It's about getting to see the struggles and triumphs of someone who never stopped chasing what he was after really inspired me to chose this song.
The intro is a lovely melody of major chords that sound full of triumph and hope.
The instrumentation of the rest of the song is nothing out of the ordinary, but the lyrics are heartwarming.
“Sweeter Than Fiction” take listeners through the doubts and triumphs of success.
It totally captures just how AH-mazing true love can be!, If you watch the Movie of One More Chance you know what i'm speaking for.
Taylor Swift - Sweeter Than Fiction
I Chose Better Than Revenge the Theme "Rock". Better than Revenge is the only Mad Rock Taylor Swift you can ever have.
This song is so different from what Taylor has ever done, completely loose all the emotion and anger into this song, it actually reminded me of Hayley Williams. it reminds me of Misery business.
As the lyrics say "She's better known for the things that she does on the mattress." Taylor even finds the classy way to call someone a ****. Now that's the darker side of her, blaming it all the way to the rock song.

The Inspirational Song
Dark Side is definitely one of the best tracks from her album Stronger. The song is about accepting the others with all the problems that they have, which is their dark side. Everyone has it, but not all the people are entering there (not accepting you) which is an horrible thing. This song has the aim to make people be together with other people no matter what.
The Rock Song
I chose Haunted because it's one of the most rock songs from her album My December (which is her most dark one). You can clearly see some resemblance to the sound from Breakaway, but still, it's darker and perfect for My December. You can also see the sadness in the lyrics (which is also a thing that can describe this song as a rock one) as they are about someone who did suicide and Kelly is suffering from it.

You just feel infinitely more badass listening to this song. It's about running this town. And there's something really encouraging about Rihanna's part, her voice really gives hope and the beat helps too.
The video is empowering and you feel like a fire is stirring inside if you really got into the song.
Shut Up And Drive
"
I got class like a '57 Cadillac

This is Rihanna's first array into rock territory. It's fun, cheeky and the metaphors are incredibly clever.
The video is rock in attitude, music and lyrics.

Things are about to get personal y'all...
"I'm losing myself, trying to compete with everyone else.
Instead of just being me.
I don't want to be afraid, I want to wake up feeling beautiful today and knowing that I'm okay. I just want to Believe in Me."
I think about 3 years ago, I was diagnosed having Bipolar Disorder. Someone on my family noticed how extremely maniac or depressed I become randomly. I would become depressed because of the absolutely smallest things. Like if a girl at my school shook hands with a guy I liked I would get so upset and angry, not depressed, just become furious. My parents thought it was just a 'teenage girl phase' but it got so severe that I eventually had a nervous breakdown. Someone dear to me actually bothered to take me and seek help for me.
"I'm not gonna breakdown, not today.
I knew I had all the strength to make it through, so..
I'm NOT gonna be afraid, I'm GOING to wake up feeling beautiful today and I WILL know that I'm okay. NOW I Believe in Me."
During my recovery, Demi returned from rehab with "Skyscraper". I related to her so much, that's why I'm just so attached and grateful to her. I started loving Demi, I got into her discography and her first album and found is song. It just feels so good to overcome a dark phase in your life.
(I am honestly not trying to get sympathy AT ALL. I just really wanted yo explain why this song is so inspirational to me.)
Demi - Got Dynamite
THIS IS DEMI. The rock/pop bitch that she is. Her first two albums (the second one especially) are absolute rock/pop perfection. Even the critics loved the musical direction Demi was taking, especially since she was on Disney and didn't go pop like every Disney girl. Although she changed her musical direction with 'Unbroken', her ROCK sound remains a masterpiece. Just listen to this, her voice was meant for rock.
