Well, you really have to look at them more in terms of the eras they're from rather than as a whole, because the scene has changed much more than people give it credit for...
I'd say from the original era, SES had something special musically that I never saw in Fin.K.L, Baby VOX or other similar groups. While their cutesy stuff was somewhat lacking, all the groups had that issue at the time - the main draw for me was definitely the fact that they had songs like Twilight Zone and Dreams Come True, something unlike any of the other groups' singles. Both of those sold them for me.
CSJH doesn't seem to be as successful as the fans make them seem. Maybe I'm missing something. But I would say from the revival era, Wonder Girls definitely were the most special because of their composition. Tell Me, So Hot, Nobody, Pabo and even the much more recent 2 Different Tears all have absolutely fantastic arrangements and the vocals are placed just right. JYP is a god in that aspect. I also think that Brown Eyed Girls pre-Abracadabra did well in this aspect, however, the consistency wasn't quite there. Korea was much more "here for" WG.
SNSD before and after Gee is like a completely different group. That being said, Into the new world ***** and was fantastic, however, they didn't truly kick things up until Gee in 2009. Ever since then, they've been completely dominating, almost effortlessly. Such is the charm of an SM Entertainment group. However, like Kara up until the 3rd album Step, they're mostly lacking when it comes to non-singles. This is more SM's fault, though. SNSD and Kara have fantastic title tracks and their 2nd-tier tracks are usually good too. But one group beats them consistently in terms of interest, consistency, musical quality and overall attention drawing factors: 2NE1. Ever since the Lollipop debut, they've been keeping up with great and interesting songs and showing diversity. As soon as people get their panties in a bunch over autotune, they drop a song like It Hurts or Lonely. As soon as individuality is questioned, Bom drops an amazing solo song. As soon as CL is bashed for being just a shouty rapper, she starts slaying every live vocal she goes to do, even while sick. They've got interesting personalities and their fashion is always just right. Something about them remains much more interesting than any other current kpop group. For that, I stan. Thank Papa YG for letting them be that way; I expect amazing things from them always.
T-Ara and similar groups are good, but inconsistent in all fields. For that, I'm somewhat-interested, but I can't be looking out too much, lest I get disappointed. Example 2: After School. Crap debut, okay follow up, DIVA was amazing, okay follow up, Bang slayed and the middle 8 revived patients from comas and cured cancer, generally weak ever since apart from Kahi's solo "Dorawa nappeun neo." The constant member changes are bizarre and make it hard for them to establish a personality as a group.
BTW guys which top girlgroups you prefer: The biggest ones (SES, Fin.K.L, Baby VOX), the ones that revived the girlgroup frenzy (CSJH The Grace, Jewelry) or the current top ones (SNSD, Kara, BEG)?
who ?

The current ones.I haven't taken the time to get into girl groups that debuted before 2006.

I can agree with this. I definitely see how people say SNSD isn't that consistent when it comes to non-title singles a.k.a. album/mini album tracks, but I actually like the majority of their stuff non title singles included(It seems like I'm the only one here for The Boys album). 2NE1 on the other hand ALWAYS delivers I mean they stay slaying. Both are tied for my fav K-Pop girl group although overall I think SNSD is the more talented group because all the members are good at something whether it be singing or dancing, but Dara can't sing and Bom is SOOO stiff. In my opinion no other new girl groups will compare to the epicness of SNSD and 2NE1.(But you never know)
SES, Fin.K.L and Baby VOX are the best selling k-pop girlgroups in history Thebest selling girlgroup album ever is one of SES' albums, which sold 800K, #2 is a Fin.K.L one that sold 600K
After these 3, no girlgroup was able to suceed, until 2005, when Jewelry won 2 awards for "Superstar". But they were the only ones, the others flopped. Then in 2007, CSJH The Grace got 2 awards for "One More Time, OK?" and they were able to make koreans obsessed with girlgroups again. In the same year, 2 girlgroups called Girls' Generation and Wonder Girls debuted, and you know the rest
Aside from further displaying her talent, when you think about it, this is really clever marketing. It proves to the fans that her English is definitely coming along (her pronunciation was really perfect aside from mixing up plurals and singulars) and continues to use the connection made by 2NE1Tv to make people feel a relationship with the members on a personal level. While CL is somewhat guarded in that aspect (and Dara is practically completely open), Minzy putting something out like that is refreshing to fans.
For me, this makes the categories a bit more clear. Minzy has the best overall vocals, as proven by both videos like this, stage vocals and studio recordings. CL is at her strongest on stage, where she refuses to give anything less than 100% even when completely sick, even with throat ailments. Bom is best in the studio - the YG Family TV things from YouTube and Naver had slight touchups on the audio, obviously, and they sounded fantastic, but she isn't always 100% live due to troubles with the heavy movement in their choreography. Dara just lost though
btw I think this is necessary to post here since it might not end up on the DVD due to copyright reasons. Obviously the point I'm bringing to the table is the Marvin's Room part rather than the Did It On 'Em part.

Hew else doe?
was just about to post it !
she sounded great singing Marvin's Room,I was impressed. she's so underrated as a vocalist.
Bom can't do that live, she sounds all shaky and like she's struggling to stay in tune.
I think Bom has major anxiety issues...there were definitely lots of tell-tale signs during 2NE1TV. It's a shame; as an aspiring performer with them I understand that completely. There's always something that makes you able to do it, but when you're up there, part of you is wishing you weren't.

Death! This is my MAJOR problem with Bom she clearly has a great voice she just holds back a lot. If she went all out like I so want her too she could reclaim her throne as best 2NE1 vocalist from Minzy.
As far as the NOLZA DVD is there any news on it? Cause I've only watch the solo stages waiting for it.
There's not any official news, but there wasn't for G-Dragon's concert either until like a week before it came out. They just said "...even if it's for the DVD" during the one episode of 2NE1TV where they were doing the concerts, so it's a safe assumption to make. As far as what's allowed on there and if it will have a cut/uncut version like G-Dragon was forced to, that's unknown right now. I feel like it would be out before Christmas ideally.
The Wonder Girls have enlisted the help of some big figures for their comeback. In addition to having Beyonce‘s “Freakum Dress” choreographer, Jonte on their team, the girls also have designer Johnny Wujek, the fashion stylist for Katy Perry, backing them as well!
They're just doing everything right, JYP apparently believes in them and I'm sure the budget for their US debut isn't going to be any smaller.
However, I still don't think WG have any US appeal whatsoever, it's just not going to happen! miss A would've been a much better choice, they look MUCH better and are far more interesting, and I have a feeling JYP is aware of that.
JYP wasn't even initially here for miss A so their management thus far has actually been a little bit on the miraculous side. They were originally supposed to debut in China only, and all sorts of other weird ****.
So let's get into Tablo's comeback/solo debut stage. I won't spoil the surprise but let me just say that being on a label like YG is probably the best thing that could have happened to him.
yeah I liked Tablo's album.....
No Tomorrow's chorus is just flawless, sounds like something the US radio would eat up (if it was by Usher or Taio...etc)
