Britney fans can keep bringing up 1999 sales, Beyoncé keeps breaking records with her tours and still going multi-platinium 17 years into her career.

Regular people who aren't interested in pop culture can't recall 90% of things that ATRL deem to be iconic That doesn't mean that all of these moments haven't had a substantial impact in the media/pop sphere. All you had to do was take a quick look at Instagram on Halloween to see the amount of Britney inspired costumes were worn. Everything from BOMT to Me Against The Music. You can deny all you want but the evidence is right in front of you

How can someone, who is still not 100% in control over his or her own life, be a legend? There is literally no artistry behind Britney, she's the epitome of a manufactured popstar. I mean, shes not even singing her damn songs by herself. She's literally only an icon and lost all her credibility to become a true legend.
Legends are people like MJ, Madonna, Elvis, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Freddie Mercury, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Bob Dylan, Prince, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, etc..
In which world would a Britney fit in this list?!? It would basically be a disgrace to all the people who are deemed legends thus far.
