Typically, they're as long as you see fit, but know that too short of a song can leave the judges wanting more/feeling like something is missing, and too long will make it seem like EuphorianSea wrote it and you'll get last place.

Sometimes, the length is more specific, though. (An example is during the first rounds of last season: you were only allowed a verse and a chorus with an optional pre-chorus)

I don't know if we're doing official contestant introductions, but I'm Tymps aka Adam. I've been writing for a long time and have a lot of history with this game, being involved with 5/7 seasons so far (and now 6/8). Primarily I am a musician but mostly for this game I'll write lyrics.
