Avril? PSH. She only appears Top 10 on Pop Artists Not important.

oVERALL #8 well I use o see here a lot of times that Britney was going to be #1 and she was the artist of the decade blah blah #8 is pretty down for her Beyonce in less time totally ***** over her and the HOT 100 singles is the second most important countdown like it or not Avril appear twice there while britney is not even appearing in #100 LOL!, no one talk about the Hot100/Airplay but well now that you mention Avril did also way better there and with less singles 5#1's britney only 4 this decade, don't came with excuses of "ohhh they dididn't support her album blah blah" fans are ALWAYS voting like crazy on madiabase to see her doing "great" and well at the end it didn't effect.
ohh and BTW Avril is important beacause she appears in all tops maybe not in top 10 but yes in all (including the Hot 100 Singles of the decade ) as well in the two Rolling Stone countdowns sooo she was def important and you also know who she is .

You saw HERE, that's the opinion of people here. Doesn't mean it was going to be true, and well she is still the #1 selling female artist. Beyonce has always had the advantage because of more radio play, duh. Britney is a Pop artist, she can only benefit so much on radio.
And it's not an excuse. It's the TRUTH. If she had support during Britney era, some of these positions would differ. Sorry you're not intelligent enough to understand that. But that's not even a point here. Fans voting like crazy? That doesn't even matter. God, you are so....yeah.
Avril, not important. EVERYONE trumps her besides maybe Cassie. She's not in the Top 10 of any of the important charts, and I don't think even close to it all. You talk **** about Britney all the time, but we see who is ahead in pretty much all the charts besides a couple. Rolling Stones? Those were votable countdowns, sweetie. You probably voted 99% of the time.

Yeah SELLING female artist and why? because Oops was released in 2000 when albums still sell it's obvious that beyonce and all girls that came after brtney will sell much less, her britney era was such a fail in many ways but well not because of that means she will not be on the Hot 100 she puts FIVE albums this decade and many many singles it's a shame to not see a single one there anyway Avril yes was close in all Billboard countdowns.
ex: -HOT 100 singles (appearing twice britney not even included)
-HOT 100 artist Avril #27 Britney #36
-Radio Song Artist (Bey #1, Avril #48 Britney NOT included)
-Pop Artist of the decade #10 AWESOME Britney #8 LOL!
-Artist of the decade #28
-Radio Songs 100 (Avril #89, Britney NOT included)
-Digital Songs Artist (Avril #48, Britney NOT included)
-Billboard 200 Arist #38 of 200 close
-Pop Songs (Avril #23, Britney NOT included)
-Adult Pop Song (Avril #23, Britney NOT included)
-Top 200 Albums appering twice of 3 albums and topping at #21 close
also well britney didn't top ANYTHING!
and yes RS made a votable countdown and no I only vote few times but it's BETTER when is contable because poeple it's deciding and putting the hits not 2-3 stupid critics creating a boring horrendous none-commercial countdown .

The Britney era was not a failure....it was hard to chart on Billboard singles-wise when you're being blacklisted by radio thanks to the bitter giant known as Clear Channel for not using them again as her tour promoters for one of the best tours of the decade (Dream Within A Dream Tour). Britney took a hit on the charts by not being able played on Z100, KISS, etc...because they all were owned by Clear Channel Communications. With no visible airplay you couldn't chart on a Singles chart that relied so heavily on airply numbers....thank god for Digital sales and new formula for the Hot 100.

The Honorable John Ashcroft
U.S. Attorney General
Department of Justice

The Honorable Michael K. Powell, Chairman
Federal Communications Commission
The Portals II
445 12th Street SW
Room 8B201
Washington DC 20554
Dear Attorney General Ashcroft and Chairman Powell:
I write to express my serious concern about vertical and horizontal integration in the radio, television, and concert promotion industries. Specifically, I am concerned about allegations that consolidation of these industries by Clear Channel Communications, Inc. has negatively affected recording artists, owners of sound recording copyrights, consumers, advertisers, and competitors in the radio and television industries. I would like to know whether your agencies have investigated the allegations detailed below, and if not, would encourage you to do so.
According to numerous press reports, as well as first hand accounts by affected recording artists and copyright owners, Clear Channel’s consolidation of the radio and concert promotion industries has had a variety of negative repercussions on recording artists, copyright owners, and consumers. It has been reported that Clear Channel has “punished” recording artists, including Britney Spears, for their refusal to use its concert promotion service, Clear Channel Entertainment, by “burying” radio ads for their concerts and by refusing to play their songs on its radio stations. The consolidation of the radio industry also lends growing support to persistent allegations that record companies often must pay radio stations to play the music of their artists. PAYOLA at its finest.
These allegations, if true, have obvious, negative implications for consumers, both through higher concert ticket prices and reduced selections of broadcast music. To the extent your respective agencies have jurisdiction to do so, I believe you should investigate and fully prosecute any violations of the antitrust laws or FCC regulations that have occurred in the above-referenced circumstances.
I am also concerned about related reports of “parking” or “warehousing” of radio and television stations by Clear Channel. These reports allege that Clear Channel has intentionally flouted FCC rules limiting ownership of multiple radio and television stations in numerous markets around the country, including Monterey, San Diego, San Francisco, Hudson NY, Catskills NY, Charlotte NC, Chillicothe OH, Oklahoma City OK, and Waco TX. According to the press accounts, Clear Channel often arranges for third parties, shell corporations, or related entities to buy radio and television stations in markets in which Clear Channel has already reached the ownership caps or been faced with public opposition or regulatory scrutiny. Clear Channel allegedly has arranged to officially “buy” these stations when, and if, the FCC lifts those caps.
I believe you should fully investigate these “warehousing” and “parking” allegations, and if true, should prosecute any violations of law. These acts may be illegal in and of themselves, and are likely to exacerbate the negative effects, outlined above, that consolidation has had on recording artists, copyright owners, advertisers, and consumers. It is also apparent that any investigation of possible antitrust violations by Clear Channel must consider the existence of “warehousing” or “parking” arrangements.
I would appreciate the favor of a reply at your earliest convenience concerning your agencies’ plans on this matter.
Respectfully,
HOWARD L. BERMAN
Member of Congress
EVEN congress knew about the blacklisting of Britney on radio. Anyways the album sold near 5 million copies and 10 million + WW...that's damn good if you ask me.

I guess so...but I still had to put that info out there again for people to see the injustice Britney had to deal with pertaining to airplay for half this decade. It makes me mad everytime I think about it. I remembered around that time, I called into KISS in LA to request Slave 4 U and Overprotected and they told me, "Sorry, we're not allowed to play it and we would like if you not ask us to play anything by her again thank you." Made me super mad back then.

emmanuel_punk and some fans of Avril are blind...
Some even said she had 5 #1 and all her albums were #1 as well LOL and LOL.
Not to mention that Emmanuel is taking advantage of Avril having 2 out of 3 albums charting at Billboard 200, while Britney has 4 albums, and one of them is at #8....
Britney didn't top anything? Well, Might, but she topped Avril in most!
Emmanuel is not only blind but also dumb... Forgive me if you have mental issues...

he is by the most, sucessful latin artist in the USA and because of this Shakira, Juanes and Enrique are nobody compared to him. If we made the comparison worldwide, Shakira, Ricky Martin or somebody else could be #1.
That's why Beyoncé ows Billboard charts but she has not the strengh enough to be #1 worldwide

Britney fans are the blind ones they still think she's the #1 artist when she didn't.
and Yes Avril had 5 #1 singles in Billboard Mainstream and 2 of her 3 albums went to #1 in Billboard 200 the first one was #2 and in other parts of the world like the UK for example yes her 3 albums went to #1 sooo why your LOL LOL??? I think you're the blind with mental issues.
I see Avril toppend Britney in most and the worst is she wasn't even included LOL and LOL.
-HOT 100 singles (Girlfriend 94#, Complicated #83, Britney NOT included)
-HOT 100 artist (Avril #27 Britney #36)
-Radio Song Artist (Avril #48 Britney NOT included)
-Radio Songs 100 (Avril #89, Britney NOT included)
-Digital Songs Artist (Avril #48, Britney NOT included)
-Pop Songs (Avril #23, Britney NOT included)
-Adult Pop Song (Avril #23, Britney NOT included)
Don't know why Britney is at #8 as the Artist of the Decade she should be lower and Avril should be higher!
foxaylove Ok I understand your point but that was only during one era out of maybe 5 eras she had this decade sooo there's no excuse.
