Updated guesses for Oscar noms. But I had trouble with Supporting Actor. Is Josh Brolin or Robert Duvall more likely?
Not Budapest snatching comedy like that . They shouldn't have submitted Birdman there. It doesn't really matter though; tonight only proved both movies are still likely winners, in my opinion (Boyhood and Birdman, that is), with TTOE as a dark horse.
The prospect of Steve Carrell getting an Oscar nod actually excites me, even though I haven't seen the film. It's great to see when actors known for their comedy roles expand and do well in other genres. But then again, the Academy keeps snubbing Jim Carrey (outrageous) so I'm not sure if Carrell really warrants a nod.
I'm really hoping that Boyhood can still pull off the Best Picture win. Those SAG and PGA wins for Birdman have me nervous. We all know how much Hollywood likes honoring itself.
