And I've listened to 1989 multiple times and even own a few songs, but not because I think they're quality, but because they're catchy. And that is 75% or more of the subject matter

I completely disagree. Songs like Blank Space, I Wish You Would, Wildest Dreams, This Love, I Know Places, Wonderland, You Are In Love, New Romantics, etc are all very lyrically strong. Most of the album is.
I think Prism has some strong songs on it lyrically, and I do like it, but overall I thought it was disappointing and not showing Katy's potential as a writer. The majority of the songs didn't have the signature Katy Perry style of writing, they sounded like they could have been anyone's.
1989 is a new sound for Taylor, but the songs still sound like Taylor Swift...they have her signature writing style and her personality injected in all of them. One of the reviews said something along those lines, how it sounds just like Taylor Swift even if it doesn't sound like anything she's done before.
