lol no because it flopped touring has nothing to do with the release of singles, if anything that would be the time to release a single, oh yeah glad the tour is going well, you could just put her up their with the rolling stones, you know old people support their artists. and the funny thing is if you actually put some effort and not go on stage and do old youga looking moves . you never know you might actaully get sick. shocking it's it:
and the tour is contuing in Japan anyway

Butterfly is the only really good album of the lot - and that's because it's concise! No horrible interludes (LMAO Speakerphone), no cringe-inducing lyrics (that segment from Sky Fits Heaven that was posted made me want to dry-heave - and to think, a decade ago, I loved it!), no filler (well, except Baby Doll. But that can be forgiven, because Missy was the hot new thing at the time and everyone wanted to work with her! And that Prince cover with Dru Hill - hey, it was the 90s!)
In fact, if i was to rank them: Butterfly >> IP (suck it) >>>>>>> ROL >>>>>>>> TVR. (which oddly enough, if you switch Mimi and Min around, is the love I have for each artist).

^"Mer Girl" alone makes ROL a better album than either Butterfly or IP.

Nuroad wasn't Janet... he was a robot.
As for our argument. I guess we just have different opinions. I still love HER, just not her music. She's still my favorite.
BTW, AFY is way underrated. It may be heavy on the sexy jams but they're all excellent. Non-singles like "You Ain't Right," "When We Ooo" and "Feels So Right" are far better than non-singles like "Rollercoaster," "Discipline" and "What's Ur Name," not to mention the heaps of steaming poo-filler on Damita Jo/20 Y.O.

I was listening this song yesterday... and I also read this info:
In an interview Madonna gave Vanity Fair magazine, Madonna commented this about Mer Girl:
"I started writing it when I was in my father's house. I was running and it started to rain, and I went to a nearby cementery, which was near the place I raised with my mother. It is not the cementery in which she is buried, but another one she used to go quite often. It didn't stop raining, and the sky was the blackest I've ever seen. I was willing to run, but I waited, and when I returned home, everyone was away. I felt glad to find all the silence, and I began to write this song, Mer Girl. At that moment I only wrote six lines. Some days later, I heard the music William Orbit had made, and back at Los Angeles I laid on my bed, listening to it, and finished writing the song"
As William Orbit says, Madonna recorded the song in the first take, and it was one of the best moments of the recording process for him
Sweet!

I wonder if Britney will ever morph into an artist like Madonna in her second decade.

Doubt it, but I bet her music will be more mature. No more of this Gimme More crap.

Wishful thinking. "If U Seek Amy" and "Mannequin," as much as I love them, are hardly "Like A Prayer" and "Ray of Light."

Unusual U
Touch Of My Hand
Rebellion
Early Mornin'
Guilty
Breathe On Me
State Of Grace
Everytime
Mona Lisa
and "Someday (I Will Understand)", are some pretty good signs, whether in the lyrics department or the experimental sound. The whole "Original Doll" project was the beginning, and she has yet to finish the road.

Most of those songs are just more creative/futuristic productions arranged around lyrics about love and sex. They don't really hold a candle to Madonna's more artistically provocative works. I hate to say it but the way Britney's albums are organized--some uptempos, midtempos and slow jams with the obligatory sex track--are much more similar to what Janet does.

I don't want Britney to morph into a spiritual Madonna either. Britney is Britney and Madonna is Madonna. At this time and age in music we need more creativity than spirituality. She's not obliged to combine both - as Madge did. And as long as she does some creative yet sincere music, I'm happy with that. That's what kept Britney going for all these years. She always does what's closer to her personality which, in fact, is different from Madonna's. I really don't want her to feign something that doesn't look or sound like her. Leave it for, uhm, the clowns.

That's what always irked me when people compared Britney to Madonna. They're essentially polar opposites with entirely different backgrounds. No offense to Britney, but she was groomed to be a pop star. Madonna is more of a DIY popstar, she came from a less-than-modest upbringing and took on a great deal of risk and adversity in order to succeed. Britney didn't have to struggle as much which is why she has less to prove and less to offer. The sad thing about Britney is I think she's got too many handlers keeping her from reaching her full potential but at the same time, I think she's grown complacent with just delivering ear candy and nothing more. There's no shame in that though I guess.

Exactly, I completely agree. Britney DOESN'T make Madonna-esque music because she ISN'T Madonna and never will be. That is not an insult.
