This isn't a yes or no sort of thing, really. You haven't defined "okay" or even "fat" for the purposes of argument. One could debate the ethics of a person intentionally maintaining a weight that creates a burden to others, and on the flipside debate whether it's appropriate for society to dictate size in any situation. One could discuss the relative harmlessness of being a little overweight, or one could point out the health detriments stemming from even a little extra weight.

Ultimately, in my opinion, do you. Do what you feel is comfortable. If you can't be perfectly in shape without significant downsides for your mental and emotional health, don't try. If you can't be larger without those same detriments, then try to exercise and diet but do it at a gradual pace that feels alright to you. Early this year, I was overweight. I've lost 20 pounds now and I'm losing it more rapidly than ever, but that's because I wanted to and I lost the weight in ways that were comfortable to me like cutting soda and sweets out of my diet. If I was comfortable at 165 pounds, I shouldn't have been expected to lose weight unless I decided to. If you're comfortable at 300 pounds, it's advisable to lose the weight if you feel like the health risks are too great, and if you decide to lose the weight you should do it at your own pace. I feel like people want to be the TV ads that "lose 60 pounds in just three months!!!" or whatever, but the reality is that for many people, that's insane. Be happy, be healthy, and be content. That's more important than fitting some mold society has established.

It's actually unhealthy to be overweight (obvs), I personally don't think we should start acting like being obese is 'ok ' and 'normal' because people would just stop caring about taking care of their bodies and being healthy. On the flip side we also shouldn't be acting like super skinny models are healthy too.

Ultimately it's up to that person and no one can change anything other than themselves, but it's not healthy nor should it be encouraged to be overweight. If you're just slightly above average that's fine, but overweight people shouldn't be offended that it's looked down upon. It's just not good for you.

Umm. I think it's okay to be happy with yourself, but I also think that one should recognize when they need to lose weight and work towards a healthier lifestyle. I think that as long as you're not complacent and you recognize that you aren't where you can optimally be, then solid.

I respect that you believe that sexuality is fluid but I'm sure that 99% of the gays can't change their sexuality whereas if you're fat you can stop being lazy and go to the gym, or stop eating lots of food. Even if being fat is in your DNA there are many ways to change that

I'm not saying it is not "ok" to be fat, but I'd like to see everyone happy with themselves and I'm sure fat people aren't

oh and I've seen fat babies, in real life! My cousin was born fat and it was a struggle to get him out of my aunt's body

Of course if its a family member or close friend, it's normal to try and help them if they're noticeably obese but I would never try to intervene in a strangers life to make them eat healthy if they are happy at that weight. It isn't my place to judge their life style.

I don't actually know how big is unhealthy. I'm not a doctor. I think it starts at a shape like Demi 2013. It assume it's due to a bad diet. So it's bad imo. If you have an average muscle build I guess the safest bet is by BMI.

On average people who are mildly overweight actually have similar lifespans to people of normal weight... It's mainly at the extremes ends of being overweight and underweight that lowers mortality.
