Its ironic how the most profitable and economic healthy world cup was hosted in the U.S. in 1994. Even when we arent in to things we stay winning.

And they have the NERVE to say soccer is more boring? Ha! This is coming from an American btw.

Football is much better than American rugby. The ENTIRE world agrees. Just give up.
If the Americans had players like Zidane, Maradona and Messi y'all would be glued to the screens.
You guys like American Football and Baseball over real Football. Insane. ![JonnyϟLightning](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/jonny_zpsc73391c5.png)

Zidane, Maradona and Messi are all lightweights ![Bibliotheque](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/biblio_zps23dff242.gif) they would be crushed. The average NFL player weighs 252 pounds and is sprinting at you covered in helmet and armor for a takedown. So yes, glued to the screen... to watch them break something...

I just do not get how people are so pressed that the US isn't big on their fave sport ![ahh](images/smilies/images/smilies/ahh.gif) And it's not even like we don't use soccer whatsoever. Nearly every major US city has a professional soccer team, and they usually have a pretty loyal, though not huge fanbase

Why do you people keep judging what we like? Just because that's the one sport your county is good at/into doesn't mean everyone has to love it

Does it really matter though? There are literally more countries in the world that don't use soccer than do, despite it being the biggest sport worldwide. More countries where soccer isn't the #1, that is.

It's because they are jealous. Do you know why soccer is so popular? It's not because it's better. I'll tell you the reasons.
1. Poor sub-Saharan people can just bundle some rags together or inflate a sheep's bladder and play. This makes it popular with poor countries.
2. Undernourished and small people can play without much fear since it's not a heavy contact sport. This makes it popular with undernourished and small countries.
3. It's old. Like, really old. It's old because it's simple and requires little to no equipment. The Ancients were pretty simple people. This "heritage" means it has had time to get firmly established among those who don't want to change to superior sports.

Fair, it might be more accurate to say one of the genuinely very few where football is not at least top 3. Basically it is a MAIN sport in almost every single place in the world (including 100% of Europe, Africa and South America).

Oh! How convenient of you to only choose the last 3 Olympics and erase everything before it

US still wins in total medals
|
Well I used the last 3 because that is most representative of the last decade and who is dominating currently?
Sorry bout it

gurl please, everyone has preferences but you're really reaching.
Football is superior because it's not boring like baseball, doesn't favor height like basketball, or is slow and formulaic like American rugby.
In football team play and players are equally important, both necessary. Talent and skill win matches, not height, steroids, helmets or how much you bench press.

okay, American rugby fans need to stop bringing the Olympics into this. Team sports and individual sports are totally different, and no one outside of ATRL compares them.
were all of you American rugby cheerleaders in HS or something?

That doesn't mean it's better. It just means they can't afford to play American football, baseball, tennis, golf, hockey or a bunch of other sports. Soccer, just make a bundle of rags, some rocks for a goal and you're set.

Of course it's going to have that many medals, considering your development and total population.
If we look at medals per capita, which is by far better representation of things, US is sitting pretty at 37th place.
