The mixing of genres doesn't work. Everything that happened with Red was predictable both the good and bad. Do they really think they can now sell Taylor as a pop artist without suffering in sales?* I really don't understand the move because she will not get nominated at all for country music awards which means that she can kiss goodbye the nice sales boost and promos that she gets from those shows. The critics will be savage. Also her success on pop radio will most likely be mixed and if she gets a nomination for the grammys etc she will have a difficult time. We will see what happens but I would be very surprised if this turns out well. It would have to be one hell of an album to overcome the backlash.
Her career would end faster than you can say "sabotage"
Yep. Too bad this is the direction she wants to go with and is being encouraged into pursuing instead of making an amazing country album. I am going to just wait and see what happens.

The Red Era was and still is huge. Huge. Huge. Huge. You have no point really imo. Mixing genres clearly works.

Fearless was huge. Red was a mixed bag and that is why her sales stagnated within the US. The country singles flopped and the only two singles that were huge were WANGBT and Trouble. The other singles flopped here and overseas. I don't think it is a good thing when your album sales are bigger than the other nominees but you can't buy an award win in country or pop. I hope I am wrong but I see a continuation of that next era. I would like to see Taylor get a diamond album which if the timing is right is something she is capable of but not with how she is going about it. I guarantee if she focused on solidifying her country audience Red would have sold as much as Fearless by now.
