Scientists are constantly looking for planets with similar conditions to Earth in order to find life. What if there's life on other planets made up of unknown elements and capable of living in extreme heat/cold?
What if our eyes are primitive and we're not able to see the full spectrum of color available? Imagine the possibilities.
The search for life is largely limited to the search for liquid water because it is the only known solvent that is best match for life. There is no hard evidence yet suggesting that any lifeform can exist on a liquid methane-based or a liquid ammonia-based environment. So most scientists favor searching for water-based life and habitats.
not really a mindblowing thought about existence/afterlife but thinking about this diagram is always so frustrating to me:
who knows what our life on earth would look like rn if people during the dark christian ages focused more on society's wellbeing and science instead of dedicating their lives to church and burning witches.
This one belongs to the urban legend category. The Christian Dark Age myth is one of the many pseudo historical claims on Christianity that have already been debunked years ago. If you will really go by the actual history of science, you will learn that the scientific method, the theory of evolution, the Big Bang theory, pretty much all the groundwork for modern science were developed and proposed by Catholic scientists - clerics and laymen. And if you're going to carefully study European history in its entirety you'll realize that the Roman Catholic Church was the one that actually built the western civilization. The Church was the only hope after the collapse of the Roman Empire, the beginning of the Dark Ages. Catholic Monasteries were the first sources of literary skills and gave flight to the study of all sciences and arts. From the role of the monks to art and architecture, from the university to Western law, from science to charitable work, from international law to economics, the entire western civilization owes it all to the Catholic Church.
I don't get people's fascination with E.T.'s. I think that their existence is possible but they will not be the way that we've imagined them to be. And what if they harm us?
The world looks exactly as we perceive it. Like, what we see, is just light bouncing off surfaces, it goes into our eyes and our brain translates that and makes it an image. Same with sound, it's just waves in the air, but our brain catches those vibrations and our brain interprets it as sound. Same with smell.
Everything could be different than we see/hear/smell it. Our brain is just giving us an image from our own perception. And we will never be able to perceive it how it really is because our minds are limited.

They probably would. They wouldn't exactly have our morals. For all we know, we could just be animals/food/slaves to them.
I've been learning about the concept that reality is but an outcome of our own consciousness. The double slit experiment has been puzzling scientists since it was introduced and they still can't figure out why exactly it occurs. They can explain how it occurs, but not why. It's really fascinating.

So, I think about really strange stuff all the time.
First of all, kinda obvious, but it absolutely amazes me how people are born basically out of sperm and egg cells. Like, how many other cells develop out of these, and here we are - humans.
Secondly, we were taught about that on Biology lessons (I don't study that in English, so I hope you'll try to understand my explanations). Basically, during the period that child is in mother's tomb it passes all the stages of historical development. So, on the first weeks fetus looks kinda like fish, then like amphibian and so on until the get the human look. LOL, that's some sick ****, but it's the way it is!
It was mentioned before, but I always wonder how the Earth was made. What was there before? Like, there wasn't even darkness, because dark colors couldn't exist. Emptiness. But how can you imagine emptiness in your head?
There goes second thought. Sometimes I think that all the things we are able to imagine somehow were already there before. Like, why can't anybody imagine and figure out a new color?
(maybe new material as well)
.
Here's one of the most exciting thoughts I get. When I was a child I asked my parents a question ''Why can't more money be printed, so everyone will have enough to be rich and happy?'' (sounds dumb but I may guess I wasn't the only one to ask so). I don't remember what they responded and didn't think much about that. Then, a couple of years ago we had some social science class, our teacher told us: when there's huge crisis in country, some amount of money should be destroyed (IDK what about your countries, I'm talking about my small North-European country). So, it made me think about some weird stuff. Basically, we (usual people) should work (''fight'') for some small amount of monthly wage, while politics somehow rule the country and get the $$$$$$. Not that it is some 1984-sized drama, but in my eyes political structure is a huge mess. It's like we have to survive to get some money and home and food and stuff, but in a more civilized way. Sick tbh.

I think about this too. It's crazy how similar it is. People who have been through near-to-death experiences say they see a tunnel with a light in the end and hear voices calling them. What if those voices are the voices of the doctors and nurses helping your mum bring you into the world? What if once you die your soul is transferred into a new baby about to be born? The universe is cyclical after all.

you can only use a very small percentage of your brains capacity, imagine what we could do if we had full access to everything our brain is capable of?
Ooh, this one is my favorite. I contemplate my subconscious a lot. I think it would be totally cool theoretically but we'd also have to be completely aware of all of our body's automatic processes like breathing and blinking ourselves and correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's been proven it's impossible for the conscious brain to fully multitask? so I think we would just die, it would be too overwhelming.

The Monetary system in the world is ****ed up. Like debt, bankruptcy and poverty is built into the system. Essential all money that is printed is made out of thin air and we only view it as valuable because of the existing money. We are told to put our money into banks only so the banks can loan out a percentage of our money to other people. Charge them interest and inturn create much more profit for themselves. This scheme is only favorable for the people at the top of the pyramid. I find it so insane how the ppl who rule the US have the audacity to try to cut funding for welfare, financial aid for schooling and food stamp, when they know how it works.
Here's a video explains it. It's so ****ed up how they try to deter ppl from learning about it.
If our purpose is strictly religious and we are tested to make the right choices, why are we given such magical blessings? The beautiful colors of the Earth when struck under observation. The unexplainable emotions we feel throughout life running in abundance. Our brains, ever growing and evolving with time, experience, and analysis. It's like everything is data - our brains and hearts working as one but ultimately always at battle with each other. It's all so confusing. If it's all a test, why aren't we just robots subject to the answers "yes" and/or "no" ??
If there is no God and religion is proven to be just fairy tales (proven once we die and there is no hell or heaven), what was our purpose in life? Why are we living? What exactly is living? Are we even living? Is anyone watching us outside of Earth? When we spew things out into the air, do our words, emotions, and thoughts reach different dimensions?
What if we are much too over developed as human beings? What if we were not supposed to be at the point where we question everything and want an answer to everything possible? What if the word "answer" and the meaning behind it don't exist out of Earth? What if there is no answer for our answers? Could it be possible that we, as modern 21st Century human beings, have taught ourselves something beyond our understanding? Should we even be thinking of things such as this? However we were created, are our brains and hearts not the answers themselves? Do we have the answers? Can we obtain them if they exist?
You probably mean the past. If you travel to the future and kill your grandparent, it wouldn't matter since you already exist, it would be the same as just killing them in the present lol. This is why time travel to the past is theoretically impossible. Stuff like this has always fascinated me

Are we just living in someones long dream and one day they'll just wake up?
I honestly think there MUST be aliens out there's somewhere. The universe is so expansive.
edit:
There's another theory that says the Universe is so big that statistically speaking, every single possibility will be fulfilled and keeps going. So, there's actually, millions of individuals exactly like us, once the patterns keep repeating. In theory, anything you can imagine exists somewhere out there.
