Most people start drinking (including myself and probably most of you) before they hit 21 anyway. 18 is a good age.

The fact that in countries like Germany, alcohol is not seen so badly and younger children are allowed wine and beer aged 14 for example means that as young people, they have better respect for alcohol. This means that problems like the UK have with binge drinking are reduced. If the USA were to change, and I severely doubt they would, it should be to that.

nah, its not like underage drinking is gonna stop anyways! also, they did lower it (i dont remember the yr) and it was even an amendment but they pushed back up bc car accidents increased too much!
that being said, i still dont get the obsession with alcohol. underage drinking is overrated

Yes, lowering the drinking age will not stop underage drinking for sure... on the contrary I think it can make it soar.

There's that embarrassing and unfounded nationalism again. What is America #1 in again currently? Besides divorce, incarceration, obesity, and car theft?

I apologize for his ignorance and stupidity. Please don't think all Americans are like him.

fffff
I guess like beer chicken or cakes baked with alcohol.
That's not consuming alcohol though. Alcohol is very volatile and once it's heated up it'll evaporate.

21 is our drinking age and I have yet to meet anyone of drinking age protesting for alcohol to be legal to 18-20 year olds. The only people complaining about it are teenagers.
"Well kids still drink anyways!" is not an intelligent argument.
We have more teenage drivers so it works best for our country, and we're sticking to it to protect our youth from the dangers of alcohol. Lowering the drinking age isn't going to solve any problems.

Excuse me. That was not my intention when making this thread.
EDIT: I do agree with the on-topic arguments you brought about but please don't be so aggressive towards others.

These reasonings are taking me back 5-6 years. You would be trained and disciplined before Army hands you a gun. You won't leave PT if you serve an immature mess.
And something like that has nothing to do with age of drinking. It's much more about your brains development at the ages. Also America is huge. Lower the limit and literally have millions of teens on the road with their E&J brandy. I started at 17 myself but also smart about it, but the risks at telling someone so young it's okay to go drink won't be as smart/responsible.

And this is why atrl can never have a real, decent conversation about things

Yes they should. It would reduce dangerous behavior having to get drunk illegally I think.

Europe has far higher rates of drinking among teenagers than the US. Studies show that they are not drinking more responsibly with a lower age limit.

Changing age is not going to matter. Culture, homelife, peers ect... are the main factors that contribute to alcoholic behaviour.
