A good pop song is a good pop song regardless of its origin. Do What U Want had every reason to be at the top of the charts but peoples stubborness against her prevented it from getting there. I think in the Born This Way era fine, it made sense and I wasn't completely on board with her or the music either somewhat. But theres aspects of peoples negativity towards her music on ARTPOP specifically
this era that just comes off like spineless lack of personal opinion. Its just trickle down effect rather than truth, and I think thats a little pathetic. Am I saying this is her best album? No. But its certainly not awful and its certainly not one of the worst pop albums of last year. People act like the music is whats not up to par, but all it really is is their relentless negative perception of her that yes manifested itself because of her excessive nature but at the same time at this point it feels almost unwarranted to the extent that people take it to. Its totally lazy and exhausted. I mean people act like she still talks like she did in 2011, people act like people are as annoying about her as they were in 2009, a lot of time has passed and the storm has calmed and yet theres people still trying to hold onto hating her for all these reasons that were relevant like 4 years ago but not anymore. Its like let it go.
