For the first time in eleven years, Sugababes had no original members. Jade quickly re-recorded all of Keisha's vocals, and in March 2010, Sweet 7 was released. It sold less than 20,000 copies. (Which is par for the course for The Saturdays, but we'll get to them a little later ...)
They "released" a true 4.0 single, Freedom, but due to lack of radio support, never officially put it up for sale. They have not recorded or released anything since.
A few nights after Keisha got KICKED OUT, guess who had dinner together? Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan.
A few years later, guess who got back together? Mutya Keisha Siobhan.
Their first official single is called Flatline. We'll ignore its' chart placing.
Overload
Freak Like Me
Hole in the Head
Push the Button
About You Now
About a Girl
and, as a bonus, Flatline. These are the songs you'll be rating.
Overload, Freak Like Me and Hole in the Head are all amazing. Push The Button is great too but I don't care as much for the other two.
No one really does.
I've said this to friends - but About a Girl, and the entire Sweet 7 project, really - should have been given to The Saturdays. Back when Vanessa didn't have a demon attacking her larynx on a regular, they would have killed it. It's exactly the type of shimmering, soulless pop wherein they excel.
I do want to give a shout out to Round Round, though, as it provided the template for the next group. Without it, they would have ended up as one-hit wonders.

Hmm, well actually back in late 2009/early 2010 the demo of About A Girl was my bop, but I never really warmed to the final version (blame Jade) and now even the demo is unlistenable to me.
But yeah it would have been an acceptable album for The Saturdays, who seem to be breaking new barriers of crap with each album they release.
I've always found it interesting how Keisha's position in the group became more important over time and how ultimately exactly this caused the brand to implode.
Bless you, Ace, for snubbing the overrated "Round Round." And bless your beautiful soul for including "Flatline." Let's give it the only top ten placement it will ever see, y'all!
