I quoted RS for Taylor too, in my earlier post. The compliment was backhanded. The original quote started off with a dig.
"hooks, plural, have a zing that's more Stockholm than Nashville. But it's unmistakably Taylor: a witty relationship postmortem, delivered in inimitable girlie-girl patois. And this bit – "I'm just, I mean, this is exhausting. Like, we are never getting back together. Like, ever" – might be the most sublime spoken-word interlude in pop since Barry White died."

We also have several Kelly fans saying that Kelly's BOY is a better song than anything Taylor has written, would you like to elaborate on that statement, in which was actually said??

Yes.

Re-arrange Strongers lyrics, and you have the same pop song that has been done over and over again.

And I haven't listened to all of Taylor's discography. However, Kelly's Because of You is incredibly deep when you actually listen to Kelly dissect it. The song is about her fear of ending up alone due to the cyclical nature of family history and repeating the same mistakes as her parents, and what her parents learned from theirs and so on. And the entire song is her way of getting out her fear about repeating this cycle in her own life. That's why the lines, "I never stray too far from the sidewalk, I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt," exist. They're about never taking a risk in love because she was afraid of ultimately repeating the cycle and the opening lines, "I will not make, the same mistakes that you did, I will not let myself cause my heart so much misery" open the song because it's about this idea of repeating mistakes.
While, I haven't listened to Taylor's discography, I can understand thinking BoY is better lyrically than anything because it's so deep and only Kelly fans really understand how deep it is because we've heard her talk about it. It was deep enough to make me cry, and I am not a huge crier at all. The song made me bawl myself to sleep because it was so relevant to what was happening to me at the time. No song has done that. So, it's a very strong song, lyrically. Taylor fans calling it juvenile was the fuel behind that (I'm assuming because I didn't say that).
But, since I haven't listened to all of Taylor's songs, I can't say for sure. So, I left my opinion by saying both are good songwriters that ultimately go down to preference because Taylor's songs relate to her fans and Kelly's songs relate to her fans. Therefore, they did their job. It's subjective at that point. However, I can't at the Taylor fans trying to act like Kelly sucks as a songwriter. It seriously baffles me because Kelly's songwriting can blow me away at times with how deep it can be.

Well, see, everyone else is debating songwriting as that's really the only thing up for discussion here, so when you're criticizing the lyrics, how does that pertain to Kelly in terms of talent? Especially when the song you featured is extremely juvenile and I have even seen Taylor stans echo that opinion. You're the only one acting like WANEGBT is some lyrical marvel, then when comparing the lyrics you change to IKYWT (which is actually a really good song).
I'm sorry, but the chorus to Since U Been Gone is more iconic than anything Taylor Swift has ever done.

I guess if we are talking about songwriting please post a song that Kelly has written by herself that is better than Taylor's State Of Grace. I would love to compare the two .

Songwriting is about overall quality. They have different styles. So, you'll probably prefer Taylor's songwriting. However, Kelly's does more for me. Some of my favorite songs Kelly's written lyrically are Maybe are All I Know.

Did I say, Kelly Clarkson is as good as Michael Jackson? Did I same Kelly Clarkon can compete with Michael Jackson? Did I say Kelly has the same amount of talent as Michael Jackson? You seem to have glossed over the Beyoncé part as well.
I merely pointed out to you that can you can compose a song with your voice. Several artists do this. Your voice is an instrument, it can sing notes. Did you know that? I know you're a fan of Taylor Swift and she doesn't exactly have a good voice, but some singers can actually stay on key and come up with melodies.
Girl, go cry to some Taylor Swift until you can have a civil discussion. So fckin aggressive.

Yeah, Taylor can sing on-key and come up with melodies, so i don't see where you're coming from.

I hate that song.
So does Kelly. Unfortunately, her label liked it enough that they wanted it on the album.

Love both but I prefer Kelly of course. Taylor is an exceptional writer though and has a knack for writing great melodies and easily accessible relatable lyrics. I do think she is a smarter writer than Kelly but I love Kelly's raw heart-wrenching brutally honest lyrics more. Sometimes being too polished takes the soul away from a song.

Maybe or Sober.
But I don't think SOG is Taylor's best written song.

I didn't particularly say Kelly's songwriting songs. It just that Taylor's songwriting abilities are superior. She is a songwriter, first and foremost, just like Kelly is a singer first and foremost

That's not criticism. That's stating the fact that it's more pop than country. Do you even understand what the references "Stockholm" and "Nashville" are supposed to indicate? I'm sorry, but I have to do this:

I agree with this, but don't pretend the only way to write a melody is through writing words instead of changing up the notes, the instruments, etc.
