Disney had some soundtrack smashes in the early-mid 90's. They call it the Disney Renaissance. The Lion King soundtrack trumped them all and is now certified DIAMOND. Since then popularity has waned, but some are saying Frozen could be the start of a new Renaissance for Disney.

Arguably, the Second Renaissance began with Princess and the Frog (or even Bolt); however, it's definitely been different in that the commercial success didn't catch up to the amazing quality until Tangled. And even then, it skipped Pooh (fantastic film, but no one saw it because it came out at the same time as the last HP film). This is definitely TLK of the Second Renaissance. TLK's gross looks like a freaking anomaly compared to the rest of the Renaissance films.
