Their lyrics along with the lead singer's vocals, are things that you rarely find in a good rock song this time. Taking Back Sunday is a great band, and I'm sure they'll be very succesfull this year, as their new single Liar is slowly growing on me as well. Other good thing about this song is that it never gets old.

Best Single 2006: Top 50 (26-24)
Thanks for the comments, time for three more singles...
26. Ciara - Promise
"There's nothing I won't do, to spend my life with you..."
Ciara makes a big come back this year with her good titled The Evolution album. I'm not too sure, but I think this is the best song she has released. I wasn't expecting an slow song to be her first single, I thought she was gonna release a dance song like 1,2 Step or Goodies. The song is hot and the video is hotter. In the video, we can see her displaying her sexy microphone acrobatics and that coreography that makes this mid-tempo ballad better.
25. Mary J. Blige - Be Without You
"I wanna be with you, gotta be with you, need to be with you..."
If 2005 had Mariah Carey, 2006 has Mary J. Blige. The first single from her latest album The Breakthrough. Mary J. Blige had everything she needed to have a fantastic year. Mary got the powerful voice, the right song, and a good video. The song brings a good message for all the couples. This beautiful slow song, obviously marks the return of Mary J. Blige and remind us that she is the queen of R&B and hip hop soul.
24. The All-American Rejects - It Ends Tonight
"Now I’m on my own side, it’s better than being on your side..."
First song from the AAR to be seen in this list. These guys had a great year and this song that radio plays all the time has played a big part on their success. This big rock ballad is the band's third consecutive top ten hit. I've been listening to this song since the beginning of last year, and it doesn't get old. Tyson Ritter's voice accompanied by the melody of the piano makes this song a lot better. In my opinion, this song is already a rock ballad classic.

Best Single 2006: Top 50 (23-21)
Before we crack the top 20, here are three more artists that had a great year...
23. Fergie - London Bridge
"It's like every time I get up on the dude, paparazzi put my business in the news..."
What a good way for Fergie to start her career with this number one hit. This song takes the spirit from last year big hit Hollaback Girl. The song is simple catchiness and the song are not meant to be taken seriously. This single is not the best showcase of her talents. The song was huge and it was played everywhere, making London Bridge, a big hit and a good start for her solo career.
22. Beyonce - Ring The Alarm
"But I'll be damned if I see another chick on your arm..."
First song from Beyonce in the top 50. This song has so much potential and she acts crazy in the video. Beyonce does not sing on this one, she literally screams making this song more aggresive. The video is the complete opposite of the first video from her album B'Day. Beyonce surprised me by releasing an original and different song, proving that she is a true musician and one of the best artists of this generation.
21. Rihanna - S.O.S. (Rescue Me)
"Yes it's a lesson, it's unfair, you stole my vanity..."
With the first single from her sophomore album A Girl Like Me, Rihanna proves that she is not a one hit wonder. She returns to the dancefloor this time with this catchy tune that took her to the top of the charts. The song is an insistent dance tune built on a sample from the classic 80's recording of Tainted Love. Rihanna had a great year thanks to this song and her dramatic ballad Unfaithful, that will be seen in this chart later.

Best Single 2006: TOP 50 (20-18)
Time to start the top 20, gotta finish this before Sunday...
20. Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies
"It's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality..."
The guys from Panic! At The Disco had a great year. Their first single I Write Sins Not Tragedies was a big success, and to be honest I got addicted to it since the first moment I heard it. The song is original and the lyrics narrate this converation between people at a wedding that concludes with the word *****. The infectious melody grabs your attention very quick. The video is very original as well, for some reason it took the VMA for video of the year. This song is very unique and it definately was one of my favorites from last year.
19. Shakira - Hips Don't Lie
"So be wise and keep on reading the signs of my body..."
2007 was a big year for Shakira. This song was the most played of the year, and I think some people got sick of it, including me. The reason why this is so high in this chart is that I couldn't stop listening to this song when it came out. The song makes you want to move and sing. This song is just so catchy but sadly radio killed it. This is without a doubt the most succesfull song in her career and one of my favorites this year.
18. AFI - Love Like Winter
"She bit my lip, and drank my war, from years before..."
Second song from AFI in this countdown. I really liked Miss Murder, but this single was the one that really got me into them. The song is unique and the snowy video makes you like the song even more. This great rock track accompanied by Davey's powerful voice make a great combination, I can say that his voice keeps getting better over time. Without a doubt, Love Like Winter is one of the best rock songs of the year.

Best Single 2006: Top 50 (17-15)
Time for three more great songs...
17. My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade
"And though you're dead and gone believe me, your memory will carry on..."
My Chemical Romance got the number one position of my end-year countdown from last year. This song is so different from every other rock song out there. Their album is one of the best ones of the year, and I think Welcome To The Black Parade instantly catches the attention of the listeners. This song definately puts My Chemical Romance back on top, and I'm sure their next single Famous Last Words, which in my opinion is a better song than this one, will be a big hit for them.
16. P.O.D. - Goodbye For Now
"I think the hardest part of holding on is lettin it go..."
This song was so great when it came out that it's so hard to describe it with words. The guys from POD release this song that could easily be one of their best songs ever. The video is so simple that makes the song better and the lyrics bring a good message. The best sing about this song is that you can listen to it whenever you want to, at any time, no matter where you are or what you are doing. Yeah, Goodbye For Now is one of the best rock songs of the year.
15. Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back
"Get your sexy on, go ahead, be gone with it..."
This is Justin Timberlake's first appearance in the countdown. This track is so catchy and radio friendly that the song spent a couple weeks at number one in the Hot 100. Justin Timberlake teams up with Timbaland for this one, and that obviously means the song was destined to be huge. Justin brought pop music back in the pop world. The digitally disorted voice instantly grabs the attention of the listeners. His album is also a masterpiece, and I'm more than sure that we will see much more from Timberlake this year.

Best Single 2006: Top 50 (14-12)
Three more videos before the top 10...
14. Nelly Furtado f/ Timbaland - Promiscuous
"Get you on my level do you think that you can handle it?..."
Nelly Furtado teams up with Timbaland to create this catchy dance song. Thanks to this song, Nelly Furtado got her first number one in the US. The song burnt up the charts, and it grabs your attention easily. The singalong chorus, the provocative lyrics, everything combines to make this song a hit. Without a doubt, Nelly managed to release one of the best pop songs of the year. She is the artist with most singles in my top 50, there is one more song that will be revealed later.
13. Fort Minor - Where'd You Go
"I don't understand why you have to always be gone..."
Fort Minor never really caught my attention with Petrified, Where'd You Go was the song that made me like them. This time, Mike Shinoda teams up with Holly Brooke, making a good combination of pop and hip-hop. The song express the loneliness of those left behind when a loved one is absent for a long period of time. Where'd You Go was a natural radio hit. This song gets hip-hop and pop fans together, and it is definately one of the best songs of the year.
12. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California
"California show your teeth, she's my priestess, I'm your priest, yeah, yeah..."
Red Hot Chili Peppers made a big comeback last year. I remember when I couldn't stop playing the song when it came out. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are known for making great songs, and this one wasn't the exception. The song has a slow popish feel, nice bass lines, but in a whole the song is very entertaining. The video also makes the song one of the best tracks of the year.
