I see people saying they prefer Firework, but that does not constitute what the better song is. The fact that Gaga's song started a movement, reached the US president, and it got her a meeting with the president to discuss homosexuality which eventually helped change his stance on the topic IS telling about the importance of the song. It played an important role in Gaga's position as a gay icon which eventually allowed her to help get DATD repealed.
It was the first song to mention gays, straights, or bi's, lesbians and transgenders. It's become iconic for Gaga and the gays, whether they like it or not. It was used before, but after Gaga's song 'Born This Way' has become a catch phrase that's used in movies/songs/tv series/literature when minorities are being discussed.
Also, Katy/Madonna/Alice Cooper have performed the song on their tour as well, so even Katy uses Gaga's song
All this makes Born This Way the better song BY FAR.

None of this makes BTW any better. Which you prefer is subjective, which is what the thread is about, not a certain song's achievements.
Both are generic, teenage anthems made for the gay community. Nothing special about either or.
