should still count..but w/e least she matched it by billboard's standards, but she pretty much broke the record

Not really - Part Of Me was recorded at a different time to the original 5 chart-toppers and was part of a re-released album with extra tracks.

Of course if you want to count No 1 singles on an album, irrespective of when those tracks were recorded, then that's fine. But then you'd have to concede that The Beatles' greatest hits "1" probably has more No 1 singles than any album in history.

idk about The Beatles. I don't even like their music..how many #1s from 1 album do they have?

Re-release/deluxe edition....same thing. It's not the original album of songs recorded together was my point.

Re: the Beatles, my point was just that if you're including TD: TCC and its singles recorded at different times as all "#1 hits from the same album", then stretching the point, you'd have to include greatest hits albums and all the #1 hits on those. The Beatles' album will have like 20 #1s.

Obviously the sensible thing to do is just to include the songs recorded on an original album - which is what Billboard has done. Katy equalled the record anyway; the only original single which missed the US top spot was the aptly named "The One That Got Away".

I don't have the source now, but Billboard expained it the week they launched the On-Demand chart.

Youtube, VEVO, etc. have been included in the Hot 100 for years (and only contribute very little, not enough to really notice). The On-Demand component is different, it's what they show in the On-Demand chart. Probably counts for 10-20% of the Hot 100 I'd guess.

About the genre specific charts, Billboard didn't put Where Have You Been into the R&B charts (even though it actually IS getting some airplay on urban radio). So I think there is a chance that not every single Taylor Swift song will chart on country.

It's been a while though, they can't stop changing their rules when they want to (Katy's re-release sales are counted with the original ones but the singles aren't, lol?): for example, the streaming rule is completely stupid and we didn't need it (it made Taylor lose 2 weeks at #1 with WANEGBT, and avoided WA's #1) and now this... they're so annoying, unprofessional and stupid omg.

I don't see what's wrong with making streaming a more important part for chart positions, it's obvious we all stream a lot because people use VEVO and Spotify a lot, which we didn't have a few years ago.

Oh and I forgot because of the streaming rule, some songs remain in the top 10 for 10 years while their sales are free falling (last example: WHYB).

+1 I know it affected Taylor negatively but thats on her and her label. They could have easily put it up but they didn't so its on them and not on billboard. The streaming helps give a more fair representation of what the people actually want to hear and although some artists are hurt because they don't put it up that shouldn't cause people to say that its flawed.

I said this in another thread, but WHYB flopped in streaming... Never made the top ten on On Demand.

Being overplayed to death was what kept it afloat, considering radio has the most power out of anything.
