Most of what you just said is pure assumption, opinion and careful wording.

For example, grouping achievements in music AND films into one category is only to produce your desired result. Those two things don't even go together. And if we use averages Beyonce clearly comes out on top. Her perfume is the third best selling celebrity perfume (http://www.forbes.com/2011/04/13/top...rtainment.html), her albums have sold more per record, and her movies have grossed more per film.

That's not to mention any of her achievements with Destiny's Child, which I know is a touchy subject because everyone likes to remove it from her history when it works for her, but that is part of her career regardless, and at the least shows how much of a full package Beyonce is: having success in a group and solo.

EDIT: I do think Jennifer Lopez is great though!!

Does your fave not have a successful solo career? Destiny's Child's success does not mean jack in this thread. Michelle Williams is not as successful today because of Destiny's Child is she? I have NEVER seen anyone bringing the groups success when talking about her career or Kelly Rowland for that matter. But the Beyonce stans always do it with Beyonce.

Either way, my fave grosses more than Beyonce combined. Is that not the point of the thread? To see which was more successful and more superior. We don't have the time to see who sold more in what film, what record, what perfume, etc. Let's get to the point who is more successful altogether, and clearly Jen is it. At the end of the day, she sells more in all aspects of her career, and is a bigger star WORLDWIDE.

Not to say Beyonce isn't a successful, but Jen beats her to it hands down.

The reason I brought up Desinty's Child is because this discussion is about the full package. I don't see how Destiny's Child is not fair to bring up in a discussion about Beyonce when that is part of her career. After all, she was the standout member, she wrote most of their hits, and was the voice of the group. It is not as if I was trying to count DC's #1's as Beyonce's. I was merely bringing up the fact that Beyonce through Destiny's Child has a lot of other successes and accomplishes under her belt which is not technically counted in these things, but cannot be overlooked as if they did not happen. Let's compare Mick Jagger's career with David Bowie's and then disregard the Rolling Stones. Hm?

Also I agree that Jennifer may have sold more, but she has also been doing solo music and films longer (pretty much double the amount of films and albums), as well having a ton more perfumes than Beyonce. Because someone does something more often doesn't mean they are better at it, I chose to bring up averages, but if we want to do just grosses, then yes, Jennifer has sold more.

If I'm going to compare an artist to someone else I'm going straight to their solo career. I could give a rats ass what they did before.

Nobody gives a rats ass what MJ did before in the Jackson 5, or Diana Ross, or Justin Timberlake. Sure, what they have accomplished might've been amazing but they have had much more success than their previous musical endeavors, and for others it doesn't always mean they will find success afterwards.

Beyonce is a huge star in her own right who doesn't need Destiny's Child's receipts to back her up as far as success goes. It's just not necessary. #JS
