They will continue to struggle if they have integrity.

Having your **** on the top of billboard =/= good quality music that everyone respects either. So who gives a ****? Let them flop.

+1
Everyone acts like you need to put out generic **** all the time to be relevant. Beyoncé and Gaga have both not only established themselves as artists but they've garnered the industry's respect. And their loyal fan bases are proof of that.
I have no worries that Gaga and Bey will try to go the commercial route with their next records but let's all keep in mind that while 4 and Born This Way didn't have many successful singles, they both were success in album sales and acclaim.

I'm going to be honest hear. To me I didn't think Countdown was very radio friendly at all.. But I was in LOVE with the song. But I did think Love On Top was perfect for Pop, hopefully it takes off soon, I believe it's still gaining on Pop.. I have always loved that song.. And if Beyonce plays her cards right, she will be welcomed back to Pop Radio..
Gaga I'm a little more worried about. Now this long break shes been taking is very good (not to me but in general, lol.. I need Gaga news NOAWWW ) because for one she's being played less on radio, two because she's out of the spot light more now.. So this means when her new album and single is announced, she should be welcomed back with open arms, but.. There is one problem, if the song isn't that good or not radio friendly, her new songs more than likely will not be picked up by Pop anymore, which is what I'm scared of.. But I'm sure Gaga has seen the light and is planning to release a #1 lead single right now.. We'll have to wait and see..

What crack pipe are you smoking because 4 was anything but generic...and looking at your avi, you should be the LAST person talking about an artist releasing generic music that has no quality
Actually its the reverse...radio didn't play them BECAUSE they released quality music that wasn't generic

They only need catchy music and Radio will play them again, Gaga had radio hits (BTW & TEOG) they weren't as overplayed as JD, PF, BR, etc but they were hits, Bey would have to release something really catchy so her music can get back to rotation, I don't doubt she will since she's Beyoncé ****ing Knowles.

I don't think Beyonce cares enough to cater to the pop world anymore. "4" was an album for her to express herself the way she wanted, and now that she has a baby, I doubt she cares whether or not pop radio will play her music anymore.
Gaga will have no problem. Gaga got out what she wanted to say with "Born This Way", so the next album will definitely be less preachy and more relatable. From the very beginning, Gaga touted "Born This Way" as an album for the fans, so I don't think she thought to herself, "These singles are going to smash so hard." If her goal with "Born This Way" was to be played, she would have released singles that would have actually done something. But even with a couple of flops, "The Edge of Glory", "Yoü and I", and "Born This Way" still all got very good radio play. I mean, radio stations clinged onto "The Edge of Glory" like flies on ****, so that proves that all she has to do is a release a good song that, at least, sounds fun and upbeat. Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, "The Edge of Glory" is still gaining on a certain format (but we're talking about pop, so w.e.). I also must point out how Gaga has never really been a radio killer. Her highest AI is with "Bad Romance" and it peaked at a measly 118m. Unless she decides to work with Dr. Luke, I don't see any of music ever peaking above that even if it is the most commercial sound.
I see people keep saying "Gaga needs another TFM..." I don't agree with that. At this point, if Gaga wants to get the general public back on her side, she will need another album like "The Fame". I don't mean "generic", I mean carefree and fun and music that easily understood. Songs like "Scheisse" and "Marry The Night" are fine and dandy, but who can relate to "Skeleton guns are wedding bells in the attic"? No one.

Yes. 4 had no generic pop songs and 4 is pure RnB, so you cant expect pop to play her.

This.
Beyonce has stated time & time again that she doesn't want to be the "it girl" anymore, she wants to make timeless music. She's basically done everything, She's over it.

They'll be back. But I don't expect the albums to sound like anything like BTW or 4.

If Gaga doesn't have Pop on her side, just what does she have left?

Depends on the music. We've seen Gaga can still get radio support by the huge airplay success she's had with 'The Edge of Glory'.

Right. She's not a big AC, Hot AC or Rhythmic crossover artist. Pop is where she usually soars.
Beyonce does have Urban, Urban AC and sometime Rhythmic to fall back on.

Gaga can if she goes more commercial. Beyonce can if she goes back to the baby boy days or have more songs like Love on top

You would have to be delusional to believe that Pop Radio won't support them ever again in their careers. No one would even support Beyoncé collaborating with Dr. Luke & Guetta because that isn't what people want to hear from her, so selling out is a no no. She can easily combine the commercial appeal of SF & quality of 4 for her next era. People act like she's turned into some indie-folk artist that is incapable of radio support. Like girls, calm the hell down. She already stated in the Year of 4 that she didn't give a **** about Charts or Radio this era. She obviously knows what to do if she wants a Pop hit. She has other formats to fall back on anyway.
