this demo leaked like 6months before "Papi" so dont tell me this is ********. Im sure this cannot be love is Papi but they changed the title.
Impossible. Papi is produced by RedOne and she only started working with him after she parted ways with Epic and signed with Island. This Cannot Be Love is from the Epic LOVE? batch.

I remember Jennifer talking highly about "This Cannot Be Love" in a couple of interviews, I wonder why it wasn't chosen for the album. Someone should just leak it since it's never going to see the light of day anyway.
This Cannot Be Love is NOT Papi. I KNOW the song writer and they are completely different songs with two completely different meanings and producers. I absolutely LOOOVE this song!! This is my review of the track from last February:
"This Cannot Be Love is very synthy, I guess when I first heard it I was expecting something faster, but the song is pretty fast as it is. It does start off with chords similar to The Boy Is Mine and that is actually the recurring beat throughout the song. The pre-hook is very layered and harmonious and the hook is catchy "why does it feel like I'm empty? nothing left within me" with the melody and the "this cannot be love (this can't be love, this can't be love)" refrain.
The second verse starts off slowed down, then speeds back up into the tempo of the song (similar to the 2nd verse of Danity Kane's Bad Girl how it was slowed down, then sped back up to normal tempo). The "how could something that felt so right, turn so wrong" line is a part of the bridge. "... I need to know right now!" is the end of the bridge, then there's a 15 second break (not a dance break) where wrongs that the man has done in the relationship is stated then the "this can't be love, this can't be love" refrain as sung which leads into the final hook "the phone you don't pick up, this can't be love, this can't be love".
The production of the final hooks is a lot stronger and very layered with all the different synths, I can see some VERY nice choreography done to this. The Rap-Up description of the song was very spot on with their saying of the production getting more aggressive towards the end. After repeating the hook twice, the song ends cold on the "this cannot be love" line.
Mind you, I was told Rodney went in and added some more things while altering certain elements of the demo after it was produced. I think Jennifer would sound VERY good on this track. She has every reason to love it. "
I think it didn't make the album because the only tracks that DID make the LOVE? album were the songs that she already paid for from the Epic bunch, and This Cannot Be Love wasn't one of them so she didn't end up keeping it. If it were on the album it probably would have worked right before Starting Over.

Sounds interesting, hopefully we'll get to hear it someday. I'm sure I read it opens with the line "Remember when our hearts connected" or something. Thanks for the description
