TS sells records? A lot. So does Rih? Yes. Rihanna has several back-to-back hits, while TS has only Love Story and You Belong With Me (that wasn't that big).

Everybody has their point of view, but say that TS > Rih? No. At least, not right now.

The "local" argument doesn't work when they sell equally

That's because Ke$ha and T-Pain use auto tune in all of their songs. Rihanna has used auto tune before, but most of discography has no auto tune.

If you were to hear just "ella-ella" being repeated you would instantly think of Rihanna and her hook in Umbrella.

Fearless has probably sold more copies than Rihanna's whole discography. What I am trying to say is that Rihanna is way more relevant worldwide than TS. Rihanna it not an album seller, but she is good at selling singles.

The numbers were meant to show that Rihanna is able to sell a lot of records worldwide when she doesn't sell in the US, while TS, not so much.
