People around here trying to downsize Brtiney.
She has accomplished more than you or probably anyone you stan for have had, she has broken many records, including holding more than a few, she is recognized by most people around the world including most of your fave's as a pop icon, influencing most of them with her work.
I don't care how much you love her or hate her, Britney has changed the pop world since she hit the secnes.
Every respectfull music magazine and anyone with conncetion to the music world acknowlage it, only the delusional people in this site can actually believe other wise
Both her and Madonna changed pop along their career, so she might not influenced Beyonce that much dircetly but by changing and influencing the Pop genere she kinda did influenced Beyonce too...Though the likes of Katy, GaGa and Rihanna waere more effceted dirctely than her.

To ignore Britney's impact on pop culture is to admit that you are blind. There have been too many clones of hers to even deny this. Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson were all clones of hers who existed solely because Britney hit is huge with BOMT. It got to a point that labels sought after young teen girls for the sole purpose of trying to leech off of her fame and success. Her success got to the point that labels started signing "anti-Britney" when the media was sick of her and she started experiencing backlash. Even artists like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood use her southern-girl-next door persona/image in order to sell records. All of the Diseny girls emulate her.
Safe to say without Britney proving to record labels that teen girls had selling power artists like Gaga, Rihanna and Katy in their current incarnations wouldn't have careers. Britney came in during a time when Record labels had completely lost faith in establishing solo pop female acts. Record labels said that there was never going to be another "Madonna" or teen-pop act to hit it huge (i.e. Tiffany and Debbie Gibson's failures) and Britney proved them all wrong. Make no mistake. Britney is important.
The fact that Britney is the sixth best selling female artist of all time is just one component of her impact. She's huge because of what she represents and how she proved all her detractors wrong continuously.

Exactly clones. A handful of blonde haired, ****ty clones. As I just stated in another thread Britney's influence is limited to the Mandy's, Willa's, and Heidi Montag's of the music industry. Hardly any respectable and credible acts are inspired/influenced by Britney musically, vocally, performance wise, etc. Y'all are crazy to think she has the influence of MJ, Madonna, Prince, Tina, etc.

Being considered a great, a legend, etc. has virtually NOTHING to do with sales. Sales are probably the least important aspect when it comes to what makes people respected and considered music greats.
|
Least important? Delude yourself with that reasoning.
Britney's sales aren't what established her as an artist. It's a symbol of the impact that she've caused to the world of music and impact is probably the most important requirement to be considered a legend.

Britney has directly influenced tons of artists which is the point of this entire thread. You can feel whatever way you want to about the acts that she influenced but there is no doubt that she did influence them and that most of the acts out here now are here because of her influence.

My favourite is Rihanna, but it's quite obvious that all the big pop stars of recent times (Christina Aguilera, Fergie, Rihanna, Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, etc.) probably wouldn't exist if it weren't for Britney. Female pop stars would be marketed completely differently otherwise. Probably more like Adele, Skylar Grey, Sia, etc.
Even immediately after Britney got popular, Christina got promoted as like a more artistically credible and mature version of Britney, and Avril was getting promoted almost like an "anti-Britney".
If you think back to the early 00's it was quite obviously like that.
I wasn't alive during the time when Madonna was dominating the most, but I suspect it might've been a similar thing back then.

 Where do I even start
1. Sales =/= Impact LMFAO have had two of the biggest selling songs of the year. They are impacting nobody but the young kids drinking and wanting something to jump around to at bars
2. There are a plethora of things that go along with being a legend. Respect which is probably the most important. Talent which also comes into play. There are a bunch of other things that could be listed all of which tie into and help establish IMPACT and dominance. Regardless, sales are way at the bottom of the list.

If there wasn't a Britney, there would be somebody else. Britney just beat everybody to the punch. Y'all are really gassing Britney up.

Basically. Pretty much everyone who came after Britney owes her credit for their career because Britney showed record labels that young female pop stars were a viable entity. Without her all of these women wouldn't have careers.
Christina, Jessica, Mandy
P!nk, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Avril Lavigne
Lindsey Lohan, Hilary Duff, Fergie, Gwen
Miley, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Selena Gomez
Pixie Lott, Little Boots, Lana Del Rey, Kristina DeBarge

I don't give a damn what you personally think about the artists she has influenced none of that changes the fact that she influenced them. If you feel current pop acts are less talented that's your problem.

What is this, another female artist citing Britney as an influence and inspiration. Joining such people as Taylor, GaGa, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Miley, Demi, Selena, Lana and the list goes on. Such an industry joke, no one respects her, and she has no influence.
