I thought it was RYG as well

Right, that's totally not cheesy.

Much better than:
"Cause baby you're a FIIIIIIRRRRREEWOOOORRRK!! Come and show 'em WWWHHHHAAAATTT your WORTH!"
"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind"
"If you only knew what the future holds, after a hurricane comes a rainbow"
I should just quote the entire song you know

Not exactly. I'm just saying that since people are swallowing up a cheesy song like Firework, maybe they can pick the song with the same theme, but with MUCH better quality

Hmm I know the competitions different...but I think Y3x did 150k? Peaked at 12 and dropped after the third day. I can't wait till numbers come out. Will that be Monday?

DEATH at you posting GOOD lyrics. You could have used better ammunition like "Boom boom boom, even brighter than the moon, moon, moon"

Really? I was thinking 200-210k. I know his first day was meh, but its run is very similar to "F**kin' Perfect"'s last week, and it had 230k, so I just factored out a little for not having Monday sales, and estimated just over 200k.

I think 180K+ is a guarantee, I just don't know how high he will go
210K+ would be great

Why is it that when anyone accuses their favorite of having stupid song lyrics, stans just point that their rivals' lyrics even stupider? That doesn't really prove the point you think it does...

Anyone think that a spike in digital sales following a Steelers Super Bowl victory could push "Black and Yellow" to #1 on the Hot 100 next week? Or has everyone who wants it already bought the song?

I think it will, especially if the Steelers win. It has to sell 60K more than Grenade which I think is very possible. FP is out of the running now.

Because this is ATRL. We are suppose to argue and disagree and discuss. I personally don't think "Firework''s lyrics are bad, however I'm disappointed with P!nk because I feel like she could have done a much better job with the lyrics to her latest singles. That's a valid argument and I'm perfectly okay if SarahWalker doesn't agree.

Making fun of ****in' Perfect? That's so classy. Make fun of P!nk? Really?
Katy is fine but ****in' Perfect murders Firework's soul.

Yeah, we're just having a discussion, just a matter of personal opinion of course
I just think that out of Katy's singles from TD, Firework is by far the least impressive. Top 10 hit for sure but not really #1 material. LFN, on the other hand, I could see smashing.

You can only be generic is you're making a sound that is/was really big and popular. There are many generic songs I'll listen to before even touching some of the "original" songs.
Anyway, back on topic with this being the Hot 100 thread, I'm predicting this week's top four to look like this:
1. I Need a Doctor
2. Black and Yellow
3. F**kin' Perfect
4. Look At Me Now
I'm just not sure about P!nk and Chris. I'm pretty confident on the top 2, but P!nk and Chris can easily switch positions. They were selling really similar for the first half of the week, and then the second half of the week Chris was selling more, but was it enough to get over P!nk's airplay? I'm not sure it was, but it could be.
|
Don't be forgetting about Grenade now. Its airplay is still massive (140M AI and still growing), and it looks like it's guaranteed to sell about 150K this week, so that's about 290 points already, and I don't think LAMN will reach that number.
My predictions would be somewhat like this:
1. Grenade
2. I Need A Doctor
3. Black & Yellow
4. F**kin' Perfect
5. Firework

Hopefully P!nk doesn't slip... I wish that song could reach #1 but it is starting to look unlikely...
