It was the popular look at the time, Beyonce, Britney, Jessica, and etc... made being sexy the thing to be but now that time is over. Now culture ALL OVER the world is being influenced by movies like Transformers and movies like 2012, along with tv shows like V. Everyone is doing something uber futuristic like I said earlier. Christina really was the first mainstream singer to do crazy alien, but that was a long time ago. Rihanna if anything influenced the mainstream girls on taking risks with their styles because she was the one to watch back in 2007-2008. Sasha Fierce promo pictures were THE FIRST beginning of mainstream singers going futuristic alien in recent times and if you think im wrong then find me some more proof. Lady Gaga then blew up and took it to a whole new level, but like I said WE were already headed in that direction ANYWAY because music was changing and so was the image of a pop star.
