The Band Perry is one of my favorite country groups of the last few years. I didn't enjoy their sophomore album as much as their debut but I think they made a decent effort. I think the video for "Done" was quite creative and the song itself isn't that bad either.
Janelle Monáe feat. Erykah Badu "Q.U.E.E.N."
I've been always curious about Janelle Monáe's music since I heard about her in WAY. She doesn't precisely do the kind of songs I usually listen to but this girl is very talented and creative and her music is different from what one would expect.
Jay-Z feat. Justin Timberlake "Holy Grail"
I still haven't decided if I should consider this song a guilty pleasure. I just gotta say I like it so much. The quality of Jay-Z's music and productions is always something to look forward to, even if he comes with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Kanye West. .
Christina Aguilera "Let There Be Love"
Emerging from the ashes of her aborted Lotus era, here comes Legend X for the second time. This song would have and should have been released as a single (after Army of Me of course). It's just one of those songs that never get their justice. I'm just glad it got a video (or sort of).
Olly Murs feat. Flo Rida "Troublemaker"
I'm actually surprised this song managed to do well in the US. I think it was more because of Flo Rida than Olly himself. Nonetheless, I think it's a great song. It was just Olly being Olly, nothing to be taken so serious but something new for the radio to play.
Shinedown "I'll Follow You"
Such an awesome surprise to hear from this band again after a few years. Just like they did with their previous singles they gave us amazing lyrical content. As usual rock music is very underrated. Perhaps I should check if they even released a second single...
Birdy "Wings"
This girl has one of the sweetest voices I've ever heard. Not only that but she's also a very talented song-writer (and very beautiful to look at). This song has a lot of emotion, especially in the verses, I wish it has been a bit more famous but oh well...
McFly "Love is On the Radio"
I can't believe this band has been around for almost a decade now. One of the ingredients of their longevity and success has to be their ability to adapt to the constant changes in the music scene and of course propose something new with each album. This song has a touch of country and it's really fun to listen to.
Laura Pausini feat. Kylie Minogue "Limpio"
First and only non-english song in this countdown. It was a very unexpected pleasure when I listened to this song for the first time, who would believe Kylie was able to sing in spanish/italian and do it so well? Both these ladies look very beautiful in the video.
ADELE "Skyfall"
One last cheer for this glorious soundtrack. I think it fits so well with the movie and there was no better choice to pen it but Adele herself. I wish it had gotten a music video but this is Adele we're talking about, I wonder if she even knows what a music video is.
Thanks for your comments.
