Wow you just nailed with Nelly's description. I can totally feel that she did put her soul in that album and that's precisely the reason why I feel so bad about her being paid dust. I heard she's still relevant in your country so people must still like her.
I need to listen to Breathe Carolina's album someday.

So happy to see Beach House's last album here. My favorite song from "Bloom" is Lazuli.

Yeah, they are definitely extreme, but I liked Big Hoops nonetheless, so I didn't want to give up so easily and after listening to the full album it was okay. I really hope the following singles will be successful.
|
me neither, haha. I suck at sports in general.
oh no, I hope you haven't lost any important pictures because of that!
I liked it too, I never listened to it as a single but I heard when I played the album and I thought it was cool that she did something different, the rapping and stuff. yeah, I hope she'll have at least some success this era, also with her tour.

Poor Nelly, the album is not THAT bad like many people say
|
I think you should still check it out, you could end up loving it for all I know! and it's not even a bad album, I just thought it was a bit underwhelming and too simplistic when it comes to memorable hooks and melodies.
I know right, poor her

I just started to like the album in the last few days. Sadly, it couldn't make my list, but the album is amazing!

they're great! I'm definitely gonna give it a few more listens soon, I feel like there's still some potential for me to get into it more and like it better.

I'm sorry the fact that they didn't make it really doesn't mean I think they're bad, it's just that I either liked the other albums a little bit more or connected/related to them more on a personal level.

I'm so glad you agree and that I'm not the only one feeling like that. yeah I guess she's still kinda relevant here, the album didn't do so well but she's been on The Voice as a guest a couple of times and got a great reaction from that.
and I highly encourage that

TOP ALBUMS OF 2o12
HONORABLE MENTIONS | PT. II
LEONA LEWIS | Glassheart
what I love about Leona is the way she gets emotions and feelings across through
her singing, and this album is no exception. it is dark and personal, which makes it
relatable and just very touching and inspiring to me. she is known for her ballads, but
I like how she experimented with some electronic and dubstep elements this time
to include a few more upbeat songs, I think it worked well. her voice remains her most
impressive feature, though, and it's what keeps me coming back to this album. | |
| Right Place Right Time | Olly Murs
the main reason this didn't make the cut is because it was released so recently.
I just haven't had enough time with it yet to decide if it will have longevity on my
playlist. it's a diverse album, mixing ballads and upbeat songs and I can hear many
different influences in it; however, that's also my biggest problem, because I feel
there is a personal style lacking, something that tells me this is an Olly Murs record.
however, there's some good songwriting in this album that makes it worth listening.
|
CHRISTINA AGUILERA | Lotus
this is one of the albums that pleasantly surprised me this year. it's a very danceable,
electronic record, that never fails to put me in a good mood. the collaborations with
Cee-Lo and Blake worked out really well imo. the ballads are what bothers me a little,
for one they sound rather samey and I don't like their placement in the tracklist,
they would have made more sense as little breaks in between the catchy dance tracks.
I'm also not sure how well this style fits Xtina, it doesn't really seem like her.
| |
| A Million Lights | CHERYL
after loving Call My Name I had to check this out and I didn't regret it. there's some
great songs on here, ballads as well as dance smashes, and not much filler
material. I can listen to this from beginning to end without having to skip a track.
the only song I dislike is Ghetto Baby, it was written by Lana and I think it doesn't
fit Cheryl at all. but overall, it's a good pop album that manages to stick out in the
mass of releases this year. |

Yeah, I do the same. But I always claim it's not really my fault since it's unfair that I'm so small and I've gotta do the same stuff the bigger people have to do. So that's not really a problem for me
I lost some good ones, but I can't really tell since I've only seen them for like... 5 seconds before they were gone.
I listened to it as a single like... once or twice. A third time when you count that I heard it on the radio... Yeah, it was really kinda refreshing that she tried something different while still staying true to her style!
Haven't listened to Glassheart yet (only heard part of the title track, which I really liked), but I already planned to check it out soon, the fact that you like it makes it even more interesting
Yeaaah, Lotus I agree with what you wrote about the ballads. That's something I never really like and it's what bothers me pretty often. I often notice that I don't listen to the last tracks on albums as much as to the other tracks, although some of them are great, just because there are way too many ballads in a row.
I also don't really like Ghetto Baby. Cheryl just tries to sound like Lana and doesn't really manage to do so. She should have tried to do it her way, but it's okay the way it is I wish she wouldn't feature will.i.am on every album, though.

I agree with you about Lotus; the ballads really just mesh together and don't stand out. I think she should have cut a couple of them from the tracklist and either left their spots blank or replaced them with dance tracks or maybe even midtempo songs.

YESSSS!!!! A Million Lights getting the recognition!! the album is flawless!! and yeah ghetto Baby is my least fave track from the album too ..
my fave would be the title track, Screw You, Under The Sun, Craziest Things.. the first half is just crazzzyyy incredible and the second half is great too!
its such a step upwards from Messy Little Raindrops and 3 words... they both have their highlights, but they are not great as whole albums!! this is the first Cheryl album that made me wanna stan for her(this and Fight For This Love song )

the title track is one of the best tracks of the album imo. I'm happy my opinion matters to you
I also like the last few tracks the least, apart from Just A Fool, that one I love
exactly, I'm not even sure if she could have made it her own song, it has just Lana written all over it so maybe Lana should have kept it for herself and the will.i.am collaboration was just unnecessary.

that would have been good, either adding a couple of midtempos or just shortening the tracklist altogether. I guess she wanted to make sure there's enough tracks where she can show off her voice

I forgot you like AML, nice reaction
I love those three tracks as well, although I'm not the biggest fan of the will.i.am collab.. Lovekiller is also in my top 5
I don't know her other two albums but everyone says AML is much better than them so I don't think I'll check for them Fight For This Love is amazing

Now I know what the first track will be that I'll listen to Actually I heard half of it, but I prefer listening to a full CD instead of listening to leaks on tumblr or mp3s.
Yeaaah, Just A Fool is definitely beautiful I heard/thought it was going to be the second single, is that true? Could be really successful if it was
I guess she wouldn't have been able to make it her own, just because of the lyrics. For me every single one of his features is kinda unnecessary But oh well, it's just one track - luckily
