Okay Ellie Imma need you to snatch up Calvin real quick now that he's single again; the two look so cute together in this video. This was an easy hit for me, pretty much the best song on Calvin's album and the best song I've heard from Ellie. This song had a fairly strong run with a lot of longevity; it having its full run in 2013 helped its placement here. Really this song has amazing production, I love the instrumental to this track. It's just such a fun poppy dance sound that is catchy in and of itself. Ellie's vocals are just beautiful on this track as well. She sings her parts very well and puts some good emotion in it; probably because she needs Calvin's love. Really the lyrics are what gets me hooked to this song, I love them. Ellie really slays those verses and the hook; the chorus is really great as well. But really those lyrics are very strong for a dance track like this. They really paint some good imagery for me. And dear goodness, that bridge is simply epic in every way. It's just so magical and sincere.

TBH I was scared of INYL when I first heard 18 Months, that song was too generic for Calvin Harris! repetitive and boring beat with meh lyrics, it was easily my least favorite song from Calvin Harris... but then they released the music video and OMG

so cute! Now I like the song, really grew on me

Let's be real, the only reason this song isn't #1 on my year-end countdown is because the #1 song had a massive run that was all in 2013, while this song with its even more massive run on my chart will be split between 2013 and 2014. In about three to four weeks from now, this song will have garnered more lifetime chart points than the #1 song of this year; meaning it will have passed it with around ten less weeks on the chart. This song is definitely a huge song for me and I doubt I'll be getting sick of it soon. I simply love everything about this flawless bop. I personally have no issue with comical songs, especially when they tackle some silly or unexpected subject matter. You've got to give credit to originality when it is due, and it's definitely due here for this song. The production on this song is absolutely perfect. Really, Stargate literally gave possibly their best work to Ylvis for a favour; and that's awesome of them to do it for their friends. I have the instrumental of this song of course, and it's a total bop in and of itself. Pretty much an awesome dance club anthem that cannot be beat, it's unmatched. It's so fresh and catchy, it could have been perfect for a major popstar for an easy #1 smash, and I'm glad it was given to Ylvis instead. I also have the A Capella version of course, and really the vocals on this track are perfect. I really love the way sings and his singing voice is really strong actually. You can tell he knows how to sing, even if it's just a side-project for them. He really does all of the noises perfectly too, I love his vocal switch-ups throughout them. Really there was only one good way to deliver that, and he got it absolutely right. The first verse probably has the weakest lyrics, but I've really grown to love them. They're just basic enough to work and are pretty much iconic now, I have a shirt about it after all. The first chorus is totally baller, I absolutely love that 'hatte-hatte-hatte-ho' line. The second verse's lyrics are flaw free, really it's perfect, I love it all. It's all so funny and catchy and moves the song forward perfectly. The second chorus is awesome too, gotta love the 'ya-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-chow' part. And then the godly bridge comes in and slays everything followed by the fox's sound finally being revealed in a bit of a fourth wall break. Really this entire song is everything I could ever want. The video is totally amazing too. I love how the back-up dancers totally kill that choreography. The animal suits are hilarious, the cgi fox is hilarious, the old man is a star in and of himself, and the setting is awesome looking. When I first got linked to the video I bopped a little and laughed a lot. And then all of a sudden I simply had to have the song on repeat. The song only debuted at #2 because it only had two days to chart that week, which was amazing. I've listened to the song more than a couple hundred times, it'll probably be over one thousand plays in a couple months. I've seen the video probably like twenty or so times; and I've listened to the extended mix, a capella, and instrumental all at least ten times each as well. I love this song.

What a wonderful song this is. It definitely earned its placement up at the top of this list. You really need to have a massive run on my chart and have it all be inside of the chart year to get #1, and this song definitely did that. While it only spent two weeks at #1 on my chart, it ended up spending a massive 22 weeks inside of the top 10. That kind of run is reserved only for mega-hits and this song was one for me. Train has had their fair share of silly, cheesy feel-good songs, and this is one of them. But I can't help it, the song was just too irresistible and addicting for me. I simply could not get over it and how good it was and had to continue playing it nonstop all year. I'm still so pressed about how this was not given a proper single release at all. I have absolutely no clue why every other single from the era both before and after this song got pushed to CHR/Pop and this one didn't when it's the best (and the other songs are all good too). And then it only bubbled under on the Hot 100, talk about heart-breaking for me to watch. Really it was a messy single release, originally the third but then labeled at the fifth single. Took forever for it to get a proper single cover and proper video as well. But looking past that, this song is a total gem. Really some terrific vocals on this song, just some of his best in any of their discography. The vocals on the chorus are simply magical. I love the chill production, it's really catchy and relaxing at the same time. The lyrics are way too fun too. I love the Johnny Depp line and that bridge is astounding. Really the verses, chorus, bridge, everything here is a perfect pop record. I can still bop to this and will probably always be able to bop to this great track. I am good calling this my #1 song for the 2013 tracking period.
