Isn’t it clear that Gaga, pop-artist, fan of pop music was learning from Britney in a purely cultural sort of way? Her entire rise to fame was like a commentary on pop culture and what it means to us. She created this character that represents what we perceive a popstar to be, using people like Madonna and Britney as references. But non-superfically, musically and artistically she is totally different.

Now I don't like how people are downplaying Janet's contribution but it also is not fair for people to discredit Britney's contributions to pop music. So many artists at the time had the opportunity to outdo her and didn't which is why her brand of pop music is evident in many female artists today and they have no problem acknowledging this

To me, Gaga’s simplistic and often silly dance moves seem to be purposeful parodies/commentary of typical pop choreography, a style that was pioneered by the likes of Janet and MJ and then watered down through artists like the Spice Girls, Britney, N*Sync, BSB and the teenpop wave.
